Book Synopsis Summary of Roll Controls Applicable to Fin-stabilized Vehicles by : Eugene D. Schult
Download or read book Summary of Roll Controls Applicable to Fin-stabilized Vehicles written by Eugene D. Schult and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper discusses the rolling effectiveness of deflected fins, flaps, spoilers, and jet devices which may be employed on fin-stabilized vehicles. The possible applications and some of the significant factors affecting the performance of each device are described. The experimental information has been published previously and was obtained chiefly from free-flight tests of fin-stabilized vehicles at Mach numbers up to approximately 2.0. Comparisons are made in some cases with existing theory, which is also relied upon to indicate trends where data are not available.

Book Synopsis Flat Rolling Fundamentals by : Vladimir B. Ginzburg
Download or read book Flat Rolling Fundamentals written by Vladimir B. Ginzburg and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-06-30 with total page 852 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume compiles information from physics, metallurgy, and mechanical and electrical engineering to epitomize the fundamental characteristics of flat rolling steel. Flat Rolling Fundamentals is drawn from in-depth analyses of metal properties and behaviors to technologies in application. The book provides a full characterization of steel, including structure, chemical composition, classifications, physical properties, deformation, and plasticity. The authors present different types of rolling mills and the defining physical analytical parameters. They also discuss the effects of hot rolling on steel and the role of lubrication and thermomechanical treatments to minimize these effects. This book presents qualitative and quantitative advances in cost-effective steel production.

English and published by . This book was released on 1954 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Langley Pilotless Aircraft Research Division has made an investigation to determine some effects of external wing tip tanks on the rolling effectiveness and drag of plain and half-delta tip ailerons on a 4-percent-thick, tapered, unswept wing. The investigation was made by means of a rocket-propelled models in free flight over a range of Mach numbers from 0.6 to 1.5.
Book Synopsis The Inward Bulge Type Buckling of Monocoque Cylinders by : Nicholas John Hoff
Download or read book The Inward Bulge Type Buckling of Monocoque Cylinders written by Nicholas John Hoff and published by . This book was released on 1948 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A strain energy theory is developed for the calculation of the critical load for the inward bulge type of general instability of reinforced monocoque cylinders subjected to pure bending. The deflected shape at buckling is assumed to be represented by an expression containing eight free parameters in addition to the two characterizing the wave lengths of the circumferential and axial directions. The theory is applied to two representative cylinders of the GALCIT test series and to two of the PIBAL series. The critical stresses calculated are 8.3 to 22.9 percent higher than the experimental values.

Book Synopsis Analytical Study of the Subsonic Dynamic Stability and Response of the HL-10 Entry Vehicle by : Joseph R. Chambers
Download or read book Analytical Study of the Subsonic Dynamic Stability and Response of the HL-10 Entry Vehicle written by Joseph R. Chambers and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 76 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytical investigation has been made to determine the dynamic longitudinal and lateral stability and response of the HL-10 entry vehicle with particular reference to low-speed, high-angle-of-attack conditions. The calculations were made for light and heavy wing loadings for both sea level altitude flight. The results indicate that the HL-10 vehicle was dynamically longitudinally and laterally stable for the conditions investigated but that artificial damping in pitch and roll was required for some conditions in order to achieve a satisfactory degree of stability based on military handling qualities specifications for piloted airplanes.

Book Synopsis First Course on Fuzzy Theory and Applications by : Kwang Hyung Lee
Download or read book First Course on Fuzzy Theory and Applications written by Kwang Hyung Lee and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-11-30 with total page 341 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fuzzy theory has become a subject that generates much interest among the courses for graduate students. However, it was not easy to find a suitable textbook to use in the introductory course and to recommend to the students who want to self-study. The main purpose of this book is just to meet that need. The author has given lectures on the fuzzy theory and its applications for ten years and continuously developed lecture notes on the subject. This book is a publication of the modification and summary of the lecture notes. The fundamental idea of the book is to provide basic and concrete concepts of the fuzzy theory and its applications, and thus the author focused on easy illustrations of the basic concepts. There are numerous examples and figures to help readers to understand and also added exercises at the end of each chapter. This book consists of two parts: a theory part and an application part. The first part (theory part) includes chapters from 1 to 8. Chapters 1 and 2 introduce basic concepts of fuzzy sets and operations, and Chapters 3 and 4 deal with the multi-dimensional fuzzy sets. Chapters 5 and 6 are extensions of the fuzzy theory to the number and function, and Chapters 7 and 8 are developments of fuzzy properties on the probability and logic theories.
