Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, you will encounter a variety of characters whose lives intertwine through the thread of marriage. From the initial stages of infatuation and blossoming love to the decision to marry and the inevitable challenges that follow, each story reflects the myriad ways in which marriage is perceived and lived. Some characters see marriage as a solution to financial woes, believing it can provide stability and security. Others view it as a convenient escape from personal responsibility, or as a social trophy to enhance their status. There are also characters who fear commitment and seek the freedom of an open marriage, and those who enter marriage with pure intentions, only to find themselves at a crossroads of expectation and reality. Despite these varying perspectives, the essence of Many Shades of Marriage is to reveal the profound spiritual significance of this ancient institution. Beyond societal expectations and personal gratification, marriage offers a unique path for soul evolution. Personal accountability plays a big part in handling challenges in marriage, just like anywhere else. Marriage, the sacred institution, cannot be held accountable for individual misconceptions about roles and responsibilities; balancing personal ambitions and playing the roles with aplomb is no easy task. True growth and transformation occur through deep commitment and contemplation shared by two individuals. When couples engage in marriage as friends and partners, they evolve individually and create a nurturing environment for the next generation.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the New York Times–bestselling author of “Our Crowd”: A novel of a powerful family, a cosmetics empire, and the dark secrets that could destroy both. Mireille “Mimi” Myerson took her grandfather’s struggling cosmetics company and turned it into an empire. But suddenly, as she prepares to launch a new perfume line, Mimi is faced with hidden threats at every turn. Her efforts to further expand the enormously successful Miray Corporation could be sabotaged from within by her own treacherous family, for there is a dangerous rot beneath the surface of the wealthy and aristocratic “Magnificent Myersons”: a dark tradition of lies, sexual perversity, and criminal activity that could undermine everything Mimi hopes to accomplish. With the discovery of her husband’s affair and the return of real estate magnate Michael Horowitz, her first and most enduring love, Mimi must determine whom she can trust—especially in light of the shocking revelations that are about to emerge regarding the birth of the Miray Corporation. In both his bestselling nonfiction (“Our Crowd”, The Right People) and fiction (Carriage Trade, The Auerbach Will) author Stephen Birmingham has demonstrated an unparalleled understanding of the ways of America’s extremely rich. This unique knowledge comes into glorious play in his blistering novel Shades of Fortune, a thrilling and unforgettable breakneck ride through the darkest passageways of wealth and success.
Download or read book True Colours written by Shivani Mistry and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-07-12 with total page 558 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shivani always knew that the day would come where her parents would choose her husband for her. What she didnt expect was to fall in love with Marley; a young black West African single parent. This brought Shivani to a painful crossroad where both routes led to a deep loss and no going back. Where one route allowed her to please the community, keep the family honour, reputation and happiness, the other led to them feeling ashamed, dishonoured and disgusted. Shivani was forced to make a choice between her familys happiness and her own. True Colours is just one story of countless people worldwide at similar crossroads. What is so shameful about loving and marrying someone from a different country, culture, colour or caste? Where is the honour in pushing your child to marry someone? Where is the pride in disowning your child for a choice you dont like? How is this spiritually or morally acceptable? In 2016, why are these questions still being raised on the back of an autobiography of an educated, British Asian Indian woman living in London; one of the most diverse cities in the world?
Book Synopsis Shades of Difference by : Sujata Iyengar
Download or read book Shades of Difference written by Sujata Iyengar and published by University of Pennsylvania Press. This book was released on 2013-04-12 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Was there such a thing as a modern notion of race in the English Renaissance, and, if so, was skin color its necessary marker? In fact, early modern texts described human beings of various national origins—including English—as turning white, brown, tawny, black, green, or red for any number of reasons, from the effects of the sun's rays or imbalance of the bodily humors to sexual desire or the application of makeup. It is in this cultural environment that the seventeenth-century London Gazette used the term "black" to describe both dark-skinned African runaways and dark-haired Britons, such as Scots, who are now unquestioningly conceived of as "white." In Shades of Difference, Sujata Iyengar explores the cultural mythologies of skin color in a period during which colonial expansion and the slave trade introduced Britons to more dark-skinned persons than at any other time in their history. Looking to texts as divergent as sixteenth-century Elizabethan erotic verse, seventeenth-century lyrics, and Restoration prose romances, Iyengar considers the construction of race during the early modern period without oversimplifying the emergence of race as a color-coded classification or a black/white opposition. Rather, "race," embodiment, and skin color are examined in their multiple contexts—historical, geographical, and literary. Iyengar engages works that have not previously been incorporated into discussions of the formation of race, such as Marlowe's "Hero and Leander" and Shakespeare's "Venus and Adonis." By rethinking the emerging early modern connections between the notions of race, skin color, and gender, Shades of Difference furthers an ongoing discussion with originality and impeccable scholarship.

Book Synopsis Perfect Marriage Not a Mirage by : Poonam A. Bamba
Download or read book Perfect Marriage Not a Mirage written by Poonam A. Bamba and published by Pustak Mahal. This book was released on 2010-02-01 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author's encounters with husbands and wives in different stages of agony and despair, while holding matrimonial court, led her to reflect deeply on the dynamics of the relationship called "marriage". Case after case revealed that a lot goes into preparation for rituals and extravaganza associated with marriage. But, hardly a thought is spared about this delicate relationship. Girls and boys are very demanding of their companion but none is ready to pitch in. Both want their "own way" their "own space" but are reluctant to invest in togetherness. The real life stories revealed that you cannot have a "perfect twosome", when each individual brings his/her own imperfections. Conflicts would always be there but they can be managed. A beginning made with the preamble that marriage has to work, can make this bond beautiful. To build a pleasant relationship, a couple needs to give time to each other to adjust to the new company and to respect each other's way of life. Attempt to change the other, is surely avoidable. Through this book, the author shares real life stories of estranged spouses; What went wrong in their relationship and where? Could the marital relationship in certain situations, have been saved? "Perfect Marriage Not a Mirage" also addresses endless doubts which go on in the minds of spouses at the crossroads of their relationship. But at the same time, it also demonstrates that there is no uniform code which can make a marriage work. There cannot be a 'perfect recipe' or a 'rule book' which can guide couples to a successful marriage.
