A romance with love letters spanning fifty years. Letters with artwork on the envelopes, painted by this Dutch/American master artist, Hans Krommenhoek. Hans found his artistic motivation in loving Peggy, thus called, "The Art of Love," his work was an expression of his unending love for Peggy, his artistic strength in versatility. Hans virtually worked in any medium, as well as having the extraordinaire ability to reproduce other "master's" work, such as seen in the copy reproduction Hans did of the English artist, Edward Ladell's masterwork, called Still Life with Bird's Nest. This is a beautiful love story with colored copies of original artwork Hans did for Peggy on his love letters to her. The dates and stamps give you the years the art was done. Written for all age groups to enjoy, viewable as an e-book as well as text. Great as a table top display to view the art. You will want to read again and again to study the artwork, as he, at times, wrote messages in his work, placed people hidden, as well as painted the clouds to appear as horses, birds, warriors, or messages.
Book Synopsis Love Letters of Great Men by : Ursula Doyle
Download or read book Love Letters of Great Men written by Ursula Doyle and published by Macmillan + ORM. This book was released on 2008-11-25 with total page 159 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Remember the wonderfully romantic book of love letters that Carrie reads aloud to Big in the recent blockbuster film, Sex and the City? Fans raced to buy copies of their own, only to find out that the beautiful book didn't actually exist. However, since all of the letters referenced in the film did exist, we decided to publish this gorgeous keepsake ourselves. Love Letters of Great Men follows hot on the heels of the film and collects together some of history's most romantic letters from the private papers of Beethoven, Mark Twain, Mozart, and Lord Byron. For some of these great men, love is "a delicious poison" (William Congreve); for others, "a nice soft wife on a sofa with good fire, & books & music" (Charles Darwin). Love can scorch like the heat of the sun (Henry VIII), or penetrate the depths of one's heart like a cooling rain (Flaubert). Every shade of love is here, from the exquisite eloquence of Oscar Wilde and the simple devotion of Robert Browning, to the wonderfully modern misery of the Roman Pliny the Younger, losing himself in work to forget how much he misses his beloved wife, Calpurnia. Taken together, these letters show that perhaps men haven't changed all that much over the last 2,000 years--passion, jealousy, hope and longing still rule their hearts and minds. In an age of e-mail and texted "i luv u"s, this timeless and unique collection reminds us that nothing can compare to the simple joy of sitting down to read a letter from the one you love.
Book Synopsis Ancient Love Letters by : Anna Tiziana Drago
Download or read book Ancient Love Letters written by Anna Tiziana Drago and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2023-01-30 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume investigates the form of love letters and erotic letters in Greek and Latin up to the 7th Century CE, encompassing both literary and documentary letters (the latter inscribed and on papyrus), and prose and poetry. The potential for, and utility of treating this large and diverse corpus as a ‘genre’ is examined. To this end, approaches from ancient literary criticism and modern theory of genre are made; mutual influences between the documentary and the literary form are sought; and origins in proto-epistolary poetic texts are examined. In order to examine the boundaries of a form, limit cases, which might have less claim to the label ‘love letter’, are compared with more clear-cut examples. A series of case studies focuses on individual letters and letter-collections. Some case studies situate their subjects within the history and literary evolution of the love letter, using both intertextuality and comparative approaches; others placing them in their cultural and historical contexts, particularly uncovering the contribution of epistolarity to erotic discourse, and to the history of sexuality and gender in diverse eras and locations within Classical to Late Antiquity.

Book Synopsis Love Letters To A Man by : Barbara Jackson
Download or read book Love Letters To A Man written by Barbara Jackson and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2013-10-31 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Love Letters to a Man, is an exploration through falling in love, the depression and resolution of the end of a relationship and starting over in love and life. It is written in spoken word prose because through this journey sometimes getting the emotion out doesn’t always mean simply talking about the problem or being rational. Writing is a release and poetry is simply the method used to say what is in the head and heart. This is not a self-help book but is intended to lend insight to others that they are not alone in their efforts to get through the ups and downs of life and relationships. Love Letters to a Man does speak from the heart felt experiences and trial and error of working through the aftermath of break ups, and starting over in new relationships and the self-examination that should go on in between. It also uses the imagery of experiences from childhood that lend insight into the hard taught lessons about the authors own self-image.

Download or read book Letter to a Future Lover written by Ander Monson and published by Graywolf Press. This book was released on 2015-02-03 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An exuberant, expansive cataloging of the intimate physical relationship between a reader and a book A way to leave a trace of us, who we were or wanted to be, what we read and could imagine, what we did and what we left for you. Readers of physical books leave traces: marginalia, slips of paper, fingerprints, highlighting, inscriptions. All books have histories, and libraries are not just collections of books and databases but a medium of long-distance communication with other writers and readers. Letter to a Future Lover collects several dozen brief pieces written in response to library ephemera—with "library" defined broadly, ranging from university institutions to friends' shelves, from a seed library to a KGB prison library—and addressed to readers past, present, and future. Through these witty, idiosyncratic essays, Ander Monson reflects on the human need to catalog, preserve, and annotate; the private and public pleasures of reading; the nature of libraries; and how the self can be formed through reading and writing.
