Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The revelations contained in the Bible serve as a supreme guide by which to measure all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions—and today’s Christians are in steady moral and spiritual decline. A 2010 survey by the Barna Research Group reveals that in American churches, Christians have become less knowledgeable about the Bible, less interested in spiritual disciplines, and more desirous of secular techniques to solve life’s problems, thus blurring the distinction between their conduct and that of nonbelievers. In Seven Pillars of Christianity: An Introduction to the Essential Christian Doctrines, Dr. William Ekane reveals the life-transforming foundations of the Christian faith and issues a clarion call for Christians to return to authentic Christianity. First presenting his compelling case for the scientific reliability and divine origin of the Bible, Dr. Ekane works closely with Scripture as he leads us through everything from the Lord Jesus Christ to trust and faith in the living God to, finally, the five major judgments and Revelation. These practical, strategic insights and essential truths are invaluable to new converts as well as mature believers. The Word of the Holy Spirit offers transformation, illuminating our hearts and minds as we strengthen our spiritual foundation and grow deeper in God.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Seven Features of Christianity: A Sermon, Delivered at the Dedication of the Meeting House of the Second Church and Congregation in Beverly, Feb. 1, 1838 One of the earliest acts of Cyrus on ascending the Persian throne, was to release from bonds the people of Judah and Ben jamin, who seventy years previously had been enslaved by Na buchadnezzar. This was done from an earnest desire to fulfil a prophecy preserved in the sacred books of the Hebrews, ' with which he had been made acquainted. Availing themselves of the royal permission, the rulers of the tribes with the people and servants, amounting in all, to forty nine thousand six hundred and ninety seven souls, returned to the land of their fathers, and the city of their love. Book excerpt: Throughout my life, growing up in a Southern Baptist Church, going to Sunday school, and just generally being raised in a Christian atmosphere, I was never taught about what a Christian looks like and what characteristics a Christian should have. I mean, of course, I was taught all the traditional Bible stories, and you should do this, and you shouldn’t do that, but nothing about character. I had an old family Bible that I had received with a set of encyclopedias that I bought in my younger years—early twenties. Within that there were several pages that said Christian characteristics. All it did was give the characteristic itself and Bible verses where to find it. I thought this would be an awesome Sunday school lesson series. So with that and lots of prayer, I started preparing lessons picking out one or two characteristics to teach for Sunday school that Sunday. This is the finished work of those Sunday school lessons.

Lots of people assume that Christianity is simply a nice story for kids or a niche hobby for weirdos—or worse, unattractively restrictive. In this book, Ben Shaw invites sceptical readers to think again. He outlines seven reasons why Christianity is worth considering—or reconsidering—not least because it offers some thought-provoking and rational answers to our deepest questions. This warm, honest book shows that the Christian message is both more credible and more wonderful than we might have otherwise thought, and calls readers to investigate the person of Jesus for themselves.

Was it at church or on a Christian TV show? How about a friend or neighbor that you know personally, and they claim to be a Christian. Are there any rules for us as regular everyday humans to know or discern whether or not someone is who they say they are? The answer is an unequivocal yes! God has plainly said in His word that only He has the right to judge some ones salvation. After all that is what Christianity is really all about, who is a follower of Jesus Christ! You see God is the only one that has the ability to see inside of a man or woman to their very core, their heart. Only He can know the thoughts and intents of the heart according to the book of Hebrews. He has however told us that every man, woman or child will exhibit fruit. This fruit will show itself in the form of our character. Then God said that we would know them by their fruit. In other words, we are to be fruit inspectors. To be a God ordained fruit inspector, you must first know what the fruit is and what a good fruit is supposed to look like. This takes training by someone who is an accomplished inspector and a desire on your part to become a good inspector. As the government hires and trains people to inspect our meat, vegetables and fruit, for our health, so God takes you and I, trains us to be fruit inspectors for our spiritual health.

Book excerpt: Five hundred years ago, the Reformers were defending doctrines such as justification by faith alone, the authority of Scripture, and God's grace in salvation—some to the point of death. Many of these same essential doctrines are still being challenged today, and there has never been a more crucial time to hold fast to the enduring truth of Scripture. In Reformation Theology, Matthew Barrett has brought together a team of expert theologians and historians writing on key doctrines taught and defended by the Reformers centuries ago. With contributions from Michael Horton, Gerald Bray, Michael Reeves, Carl Trueman, Robert Kolb, and many others, this volume stands as a manifesto for the church, exhorting Christians to learn from our spiritual forebears and hold fast to sound doctrine rooted in the Bible and passed on from generation to generation.
