Book excerpt: Do you ever feel like giving in to a fear of failure? Do you ever fear what others may think? Do you fear letting others down? If so, Tiffany Toombs has five words for you: Stop Being a Selfish B*tch. As a life coach and self-love advocate for the past 18 years, Tiffany inspires women to put themselves first and stop giving in to the fears that keep them from living their truth every single day. Through this book she turns the concept of being a selfish b*tch on its head in order to help you get to a place of ultimate self-love where you can confidently say "No" to opportunities that aren't in alignment with your truth or highest intention. She details how to set intentional boundaries within which you can thrive (while avoiding the minefield of self-sabotage). Through blatant honesty, deep understanding, and implementable strategies, Tiffany shows the incredible power of self-awareness, not only in transforming your own life but also the lives of those around you. "Tiffany facilitated the clearing out of some blocks that I didn't even realize were limiting me. The things I discovered about myself were so far back in my blind spot that I'd completely forgotten about most of them. Tiffany's ways of being gentle and caring [allowed me to] trust her fully. I never would have seen these parts of me let alone accepted them without meeting Tiffany." -Candice Ashly, NLP Trainer "The results of [Tiffany's] style and technique were genuinely surprising and have broken through some deep, ingrained patterns that have been holding me back." -Charlotte Webb, Global Marketing Manager, Movember

Book excerpt: On a miserable January morning Sarah is sitting on a plane to Tenerife - dickheads' destination of choice - for a week-long getaway. She's just realised that she's very angry and becoming a bitter bitch, despite being just thirty years old. With her on the plane she has a copy of Erica Jong's Fear of Flying and wishes it were 1975 instead of 2005. Sarah never intended for things to turn out the way they have: she just dreamed of love like everyone else. But now she's sitting here, thinking about all the injustices she's suffered. Thinking about how thoroughly fooled she was by the promise of love - the one that makes us want to start a family. Thinking about all the women she knows who, like her, were drained of all their energy by family hell - an inheritance passed down directly from generation to generation, from her restless mother's eczema-covered dishpan hands to her own nervous over-achiever complex. Angry and candid, Bitter Bitch is an uncompromising novel, at the heart of which is one of the most important women's issues: how can we ever have an egalitarian society when we can't even live in equality with those we love?

Book excerpt: Rachel Whalen and Ariel Alexander have been friends for more than a decade. Despite their differences--down-to-earth Rachel owns a local hair salon; Ariel is a vivacious former TV star determined to hold on to her looks--they've helped each other navigate single motherhood, banding together against the soccer moms of Timbergrove, Oregon. Yet lately, Rachel wonders about Ariel's increasingly erratic parenting and her clandestine love life. And Rachel can't reveal to anyone, even Ariel, how much she worries about her sullen, distant, younger son. When an unthinkable tragedy separates the two families, Rachel desperately tries to understand what went wrong. But as her assumptions are ripped away one by one, she must confront shattering revelations about the people she trusted and the suburban world that once seemed so safe. Rosalind Noonan explores both the bonds and the gulfs that exist between parents and children, friends and neighbors, in a suspenseful novel that is honest, intelligent, and thought provoking. Praise for Rosalind Noonan's And Then She Was Gone "Noonan writes another gripping family story that handles sensitive issues with grace. The timely plot will hold readers in its sway." --Booklist "Rosalind Noonan has done an excellent job tackling this difficult topic...The story is both sad and uplifting, an offering of hope that will remain in the forefront of your mind long after you finish the last chapter." --San Francisco Book Review

Book excerpt: 'When a small child ... I thought that success spelled happiness. I was wrong,' said Anna Pavlova, the greatest ballerina of her time. The same proves true for Sophie, Prue and Vera, dancers whose lives are destined to intertwine with fateful and sometimes tragic consequences. Sophie, born into ballet royalty, wants only to emulate the mother she has never known, a rising star who died young. Her unlikely best friend Prue is ruled by her heart, not her head, which propels her onto a disastrous course of professional and emotional self-sabotage. And Vera, hardened by hatred, longs to escape the Bolshoi and her KGB minders for a life of fame and fortune in the West. All three women will achieve their heart's desire, but not the happiness they expected. As their relationships are tested to the limits by rivalry, jealousy and betrayal, they must question their goals and find a truer and even more difficult path to fulfilment, a journey which spans 25 years and takes them from reckless youth to hard-won wisdom.'She dissects her characters with merciless compassion. Truthful, perceptive and unflinching ' Woman's Journal Magazine.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is for men struggling with hard-to-deal with exes that do not have normal psychology; pure and simple. I wrote this book to chronicle my nasty, legal dynastic, divorce from my miserable narcissistic personality disorder (AKA Bitchface) ex-wife. I wrote this from 2008 to 2013 as a cathartic exercise but also to learn from what I experienced. Did I get sued for everything I owned? Yes I did. Did I have a nasty lawsuit proceeding? Yes, I did. Were the kids dragged through the mud? Yes they were. Did I lose to a woman, who has all the advantages in the legal system? No, I won. I won. I was able to use my knowledge of her mindset to exploit her weaknesses and end the long drawn-out court battle that my ex-wife wanted, our lawyers wanted, and the courts were indifferent about. I did it by using my science background to understand what I was dealing with, to give her a metaphorical bloody nose, and to make her come to terms and win. In the words of my lawyer, she got "reamed". I kept the house. I have 50% custody of my kids. I have control over their future. I did it not just by using a good lawyer, but by understanding my exe's mentality and exploiting it. To win you need a good lawyer but you really need to defeat the mentality of your ex. That is what stops the suffering. As you have found out already, the courts are powerless unless illegality is going on, so your kids suffer if you don't find a way to stop it. I wasn't going to publish this book until my kids were older. Then, today, I was at lunch with my buddy and I learned of his brother's peril with an ongoing divorce struggle where he doesn't have a home, doesn't have a future. He also said that he had a friend near suicidal over the treatment of his ex. This was too much! So I thought to myself, I have a way to stop this. I am sitting on this because my kids are still in the picture and I don't want to cause a problem with my ex. But if someone dies because he can't handle the pressure and all I needed to do was share my experience, then that would be bad karma for me. I told my friend my story and he begged me to give me this book. So here it is, unfinished and without a sexy cover. When you read what's inside, you will understand that's not valuable. So I am publishing this now, without even a good cover, to help men struggling against women in a rigged legal system. If you are struggling in unfair terms and this personality sounds familiar, then read this book. If you know someone that could use this then for his sake please recommend this book before he does something rash. I was going to hold off on publishing my book until my kids were older and out of the house. But I can't have someone's demise on my mind if I could have helped. That's bad karma! I explain in this book how they think and why. I used that knowledge to end it earlier and win. Not win in the conquering sense, but win in ending a conflict before it raged for 10 years sense. Knowledge is power, give your desperate friend some power and read this book or give it to him. It will save on legal fees for you or him and maybe end everyone's suffering early.

The two young neglectful mothers allowed Moneys alcoholic grandmother to raise their daughters. At 15, GG formed her own crew aptly named the Cartier Cartel. The main and only vision of the crew GG, Money, Bam, Lil Mama, and Shanine was to do petty crimes in order to wear the flyest gear. While Money loves boys, clothes, and cash (in that order), GG is tired of the petty boosting to keep a few dollars in her pockets. Always wise beyond her years, GG observes how the corner boys hustle drugs and figures her crew could do the same. Can they compete with rival dealers and avoid taking the fall when the block gets hot with 5-0? Or will they find themselves spiraling out of control as sex, drugs and money deepen tensions between the crew.

Book excerpt: In 1852, when prestigious Alabama plantation owner Cornelius Allen gives his daughter Clarissa's hand in marriage, she takes with her a gift: Sarah—her slave and her half-sister. Raised by an educated mother, Clarissa is not the proper Southern belle she appears to be, with ambitions of loving whom she chooses. Sarah equally hides behind the façade of being a docile house slave as she plots to escape. Both women bring these tumultuous secrets and desires with them to their new home, igniting events that spiral into a tale beyond what you ever imagined possible. Told through the alternating viewpoints of Sarah and Theodora Allen, Cornelius' wife, Marlen Suyapa Bodden's The Wedding Gift is an intimate portrait of slavery and the 19th Century South that will leave readers breathless.

THE MARRIAGE LIE Everyone has secrets… Iris and Will have been married for seven years, and life is as close to perfect as it can be. But on the morning Will flies out for a business trip to Florida, Iris’s happy world comes to an abrupt halt: another plane headed for Seattle has crashed into a field, killing everyone on board and, according to the airline, Will was one of the passengers. Why did Will lie about where he was going? And what else has he lied about? THE LAST BREATH Chasing disasters around the globe keeps humanitarian aid worker Gia Andrews away from her own ground zero. Now, after sixteen years in jail for the murder of her stepmother in small-town Tennessee, Gia’s father has come home to die of cancer. And she’s responsible for his care. Resuming the role of daughter to the town’s most infamous murderer means confronting the past she’s spent over a decade avoiding. But in the end, the truth about what really happened may have deadlier consequences than she could have ever anticipated… THE ONES WE TRUST When former DC journalist Abigail Wolff attempts to rehabilitate her career, she finds herself at the heart of a US army cover-up involving the death of a soldier in Afghanistan—with unspeakable emotional consequences for one family. As the story of what happened comes to light, Abigail will do anything to write it. The more evidence she stumbles upon in the case, the fewer people it seems she can trust. And she certainly never expected to fall in love with the slain soldier’s brother, Gabe. The investigation eventually leads her to an impossible choice, one of unrelenting sacrifice to protect those she loves.
