Book excerpt: How do we hear the Spirit's voice in Scripture? Once we have done responsible exegesis, how may we expect the Spirit to apply the text to our lives and communities? In Spirit Hermeneutics biblical scholar Craig Keener addresses these questions, carefully articulating how the experience of the Spirit that empowered the church on the day of Pentecost can -- and should -- dynamically shape our reading of Scripture today. Keener considers what Spirit-guided interpretation means, explores implications of an epistemology of Word and Spirit for biblical hermeneutics, and shows how Scripture itself models an experiential appropriation of its message. Bridging the Word-Spirit gap between academic and experiential Christian approaches, Spirit Hermeneutics narrates a way of reading the Bible that is faithful both to the Spirit-inspired biblical text and the experience of the Spirit among believers. -- from book flap.

Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the daunting challenges facing the New Testament interpreter is achieving familiarity with the immense corpus of Greco-Roman, Jewish, and pagan primary source materials. From the Paraphrase of Shem to Pesiqta Rabbati, scholars and students alike must have a fundamental understanding of these documents' content, provenance, and place in NT interpretation. But achieving even an elementary facility with this literature often requires years of experience, or a photographic memory. Evans's dexterous survey-a thoroughly revised and significantly expanded edition of his Noncanonical Writings and New Testament Interpretation - amasses the requisite details of date, language, text, translation, and general bibliography. Evans also evaluates the materials' relevance for interpreting the NT. The vast range of literature examined includes the Old Testament apocrypha, the Old Testament pseudepigrapha, the Dead Sea Scrolls, assorted ancient translations of the Old Testament and the Targum paraphrases, Philo and Josephus, the New Testament pseudepigrapha, the early church fathers, various gnostic writings, and more. the NT, and a comparison of Jesus' parables with those of the rabbis will further save the interpreter precious time.

This is the essence of all spiritual teachings and mystery schools, and it is the key to understanding what actually happens on the stage of the global power game. Here, in a unique compendium, you get to know what the world looks like when seen from this paranormal viewpoint. Step by step, the author unfolds stunning insights into the hidden dimensions of secret politics, money manipulations, and the ongoing transformation. The pieces are put together to reveal an exciting puzzle. Topics Include: • Ancient knowledge and new revelations • The conclusive meaning of the symbolism of light and darkness • The ideology of the Illuminati • The roots and goals of today's secret societies • Prophecies regarding money and the crash • Alien forces and the presence of lightbeings • Our role in this cosmic drama "Had Armin Risi lived in classical times, he would now be counted among the great philosophers and theologians. Being a contemporary author, however, he is able to go beyond classical philosophy and shed light on problems, coverups, and challenges of today, using a revolutionary logic, or mytho-logic, as he calls it." — Professor Jorg Rehberg, Zurich

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As author, my intent is to provide a proper format in approaching and understanding what is one of the greatest mysteries of all time, as stated in 1 Timothy 3:16: "And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory" (1 Tim. 3:16). If the reader can understand why there is a mystery or hidden truth, the mystery itself begins to be revealed. Who is the one true God? Multitudes today are still locked in darkness without this understanding. Are their divisions in the Godhead? Why can't the doctrine of the Trinity be brought into focus and clearly understood and taught by even the most knowledgeable of biblical scholars? The clarification concerning the doctrine of the Trinity is one of the greatest of modern religious dilemmas. This appears simply because, in Scripture, there is seemingly evidence of more than one person in the Godhead. Does not this confusion of the obvious appearance of three divine entities mentioned in New Testament Scripture need some kind of explanation, especially since it contradicts Old Testament theology clearly stating that there is but one supreme deity? Through the years of teaching this subject, my experience has been that honest people who are hungering for truth have accepted this teaching as absolute truth. Very few with an open heart to truth have not been absolutely astonished at these principles as they unfolded before them. But just as astonishing is the fact that, for most of them, nowhere have they been presented with these scriptural truths before. The desired purpose of this book is to bring into focus a clear view of the deity of Christ and to give the student a launching pad for his or her own research into this most intriguing portion of scripture summarized in 1 Timothy 3:16.

Questions like “Is this all there is to life?”, “Why do I feel so empty inside?”, “What am I missing in life?”, Why does life seem so unfair?”, “Why am I not happy?”, “How do I get to live a fulfilled and abundant life?”, and variations of these. A very few of us escape these questions, while the vast majority of us continue to suffer in silence or ignorance. Yashera paints a picture of the dilemmas she faced and the path she finally chose to pursue when faced with her own crossroads. Her answers to some of these questions are forthrightly hard hitting and even brutal at times, but her bold and different perspective on life are surprisingly comforting and believable and even do-able. She hopes her book will aid suffering people find relief in her straightforward discourse and guide them in their pursuit of joy.

The women are not left out, because they play a wonderful role in men being all that they can be for Jesus and His plan for their lives. The man has to contend with many things that are working against him from the past, present, and future, but when he is connected to his true roots, he has the greater power working for him than what is against him. The man is more than a conqueror. The prophecies are for the man and the whole Body of Christ that he belongs to so they can know what God is doing in the nations and what he will do in the future. The man, the church and the leaders can position themselves with God and His Son Jesus the Christ for a better nation. All nations have a season of judgment and all nations have a season of blessings, so the man and his nation can position themselves with the True and Living God.
