Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Each year, I would seek out the approach of spring, for it would mean the onset of better weather, which promised the long days of summer. This meant more motor biking and better flying. ... My life was an ever-hopeful weather-watch: constantly scanning the forecast and the clouds for good conditions that meant a dry, warm ride or a smooth, trouble-free flight. I always looked for and expected the best. I had everything to live for, and all was well in my garden. And then it all went terribly, tragically wrong.” After an accident on his motorcycle left pilot Martin Lloyd badly disfigured, he was told he would never fly again. But despite his brokenness, Martin was determined to overcome his injury and pursue his passion for flight. Join him on his journey from the depths of tragedy to the heights of triumph as he goes Searching for the Summer.

This book was released on 1992-09-16 with total page 828 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the advent of the Superconducting Super Collider and other new technologies, coupled with the development of particle astrophysics and other non-accelerator based physics, research in high energy particle physics in the nineties promises to break into new and exciting frontiers. To chart the directions and opportunities for this new decade, the 1990 Summer Study on High Energy Physics was organized in Snowmass, Colorado. Like previous Snowmass Summer Studies, it plays a key role in shaping research directions and in drawing the particle physics community together. This book of the proceedings examines the full spectrum of important scientific issues and opportunities in high energy particle physics in the decade of the 1990's, including research at existing and anitcipated hadron-hadron, e+e-, and ep colliders; research at fixed-target facilities; the scientific potential of possible new facilities such as B factories; particle astrophysics and non-accelerator based physics; and accelerator and detector initiatives. It also discusses the physics and technical aspects of the initial Superconducting Super Collider experimental program. This volume, therefore, offers a captivating glimpse into the future of high energy physics, and makes essential reading for all physicists interested in assessing the exciting new research opportunities the future technologies would bring.

Download or read book Summer Reading written by Richard L. Allington and published by Teachers College Press. This book was released on 2012-12-14 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Summer reading loss accounts for roughly 80 percent of the rich/poor reading achievement gap. Yet far too little attention is given to this pressing problem. This timely volume now offers not only a comprehensive review of what is known about summer reading loss but also provides reliable interventions and guidance. Written by acknowledged experts and researchers on reading, remedial reading, and special education, this collection describes multiple models of innovative summer reading and book distribution initiatives as well as research-based guidelines for planning a successful summer reading program, including tips on book selection, distribution methods, and direction for crucial follow-up. Most important, the authors clearly show how schools and communities can see greater academic gains for students from low-income families using the methods described in this book than they can from much more costly interventions.

Written from before he was aware of the Autumn's reuniting, these poems cover the build up, and the aftermath, nervously awaiting her return in late December.
