Cette formalisation appliquée à l'étude de la résolution de divers exercices, permet de montrer que les enfants ne traitent que très rarement les problèmes qu'on croit qu'ils traitent, et que deux problèmes logiquement équivalents pour l'adulte ne le sont pas nécessairement pour l'enfant. Les apports possibles de cette démarche à la pédagogie sont évoqués.
