Book Synopsis The Murder Next Door by : Sarah Bell
Download or read book The Murder Next Door written by Sarah Bell and published by . This book was released on 2021-06-05 with total page 382 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A queer historical murder mystery that explores notions of justice and morality, driven by compelling flawed characters. In the summer of 1912 in Northern England, sapphic couple Louisa Knight and Ada Chapman are drawn into the investigation of their neighbour's murder. The police quickly declare his wife the obvious suspect. Ada, however, questions whether she could be innocent. The same as Ada's former lover - now in gaol for manslaughter - claims to be. Louisa is less certain, and less keen to investigate, but finds herself pulled along by the mystery of it all. These reactions reflect their differing personalities. Ada is artistic, impulsive and fiery, whilst Louisa is pragmatic, clever and dry witted. She is also asexual - a word not available to her - and Ada is not. Due to these differences, their relationship is a careful balancing act and both harbour fears that this investigation could push them over the edge. It doesn't help that what they learn about Mr Pearce paints him as a selfish man who cared little for the hurt he caused others. His wife is not the only woman with good reason to want him dead, and the couple are forced to ask themselves questions about the morality of the situation and the legal system that will ensnare the guilty party. This book would appeal to both fans of historical mysteries and LGBTQA+ fiction.

How do you know when to stay and when to go? In The Complicated Heart, you will travel through Sarah's story with her, from age 14 and beyond, as she wrestles with these very questions. Prepare yourself: she holds nothing back. If you’ve struggled with a difficult relationship, if you’ve felt torn-up and crazy and confused because of it, if you just want to know how to move forward and be okay, this story is for you. Dysfunction does not have to be your destiny or your identity. Victory is on the table. Download or read book The Bell Tower written by Sarah Rayne and published by Severn House Publishers Ltd. This book was released on 2016-02-01 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The haunted-house theme is one of the most venerable in the genre, and Rayne has given it new life in this series, drawing again and again on the secrets contained within structures built originally to keep us safe” Booklist Starred Review A 400-year-old crime continues to menace the present in this spine-chilling tale of supernatural suspense. When Nell West starts extending her Oxford antiques shop, she is not expecting to uncover strange fragments of its past: fragments that include a frightened message scribbled on old plasterwork, dated 1850 and referring to someone called Thaisa. She also uncovers a mysterious link with a village on the Dorset coast – a village with an ancient bell tower and dark memories of a piece of music known locally as Thaisa’s Song. The sea is gradually encroaching on the derelict tower, but the old Glaum Bell still hangs in the lonely bell chamber and although it was silenced after an act of appalling brutality during the reign of Henry VIII, local people whisper that its chime is still occasionally heard. As Nell and Michael Flint discover, the tower is mysteriously entangled with the story of Thaisa and a 400-year-old tragedy that has echoed down the centuries.

Download or read book Inside One Author's Heart written by Eugenia Price and published by Turner Publishing Company. This book was released on 2021-08-17 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inside One Author’s Heart offers a rare glimpse behind the image of a bestselling writer. Instead of her sweeping tales of the Old South, Ms. Price focuses on herself, her readers, and the special way in which they nourish each other. He tells it straight—with “warts and flaws” and, at all times, an endearing sense of humor about herself and her work. Here Ms. Price reveals how she creates her haunting novels, and how she brings her characters to life on paper. Here are the heartfelt dialogues between Ms. Price and her readers. Here is the real Eugenia Price, eternally optimistic, yet strangely intimidated by her own success. The story ranges from Ms. Price’s early years as a writer living in Chicago, to how she fled in the 1960’s for privacy to the sanctuary of St. Simons Island. And this is the most riveting part of her narrative. This deeply private and spiritual woman not only absorbed her new surroundings, she also created a mystique about the island and its history.
