Book Synopsis The Pop Culture Parent by : Theodore A. Turnau, III
Download or read book The Pop Culture Parent written by Theodore A. Turnau, III and published by New Growth Press. This book was released on 2020-05-04 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Parents often feel at a loss with popular culture and how it fits in with their families. They want to love their children well, but it can be overwhelming to navigate the murky waters of television, movies, games, and more that their kids are exposed to every day. Popular culture doesn’t have to be a burden. The Pop Culture Parent equips mothers, fathers, and guardians to build relationships with their children by entering into their popular culture–informed worlds, understanding them biblically, and passing on wisdom. This resource by authors Ted Turnau, E. Stephen Burnett, and Jared Moore, provides Scripture-based, practical help for parents to enjoy the messy gift of popular culture with their kids. By engaging with their children’s interests, parents can explore culture while teaching their children to become missionaries in a post-Christian world. By providing realistic yet biblical encouragement for parents, the coauthors guide readers to engage with popular culture through a gospel lens, helping them teach their kids to understand and answer the challenges raised by popular culture. The Pop Culture Parent helps the next generation of evangelicals move beyond a posture of cultural ignorance to one of cultural engagement, building grace-oriented disciples and cultural missionaries.
Book Synopsis Santa from Cincinnati by : Judi Barrett
Download or read book Santa from Cincinnati written by Judi Barrett and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2012-10-02 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everything you ever wanted to know about Santa, as told to the author of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by the big guy himself. This eBook edition includes audio! As you might imagine, the early life of Santa Claus was a liiiiiiiittle different from the childhood of your average kid. His first words were “ho ho ho!” By five he was wearing a fake beard and mustache, and could rarely be found without his favorite stuffed reindeer. It was clear from a very young age that he was destined for uniqueness.... Despite this, his parents went to great lengths to keep the normalcy in his life. They had him learn guitar (he was in a rock band!), and play baseball (he had quite an arm), and even do chores (okay—here he was like any other kid on earth—he hated chores). But there was no stopping Santa from being Santa, and one winter, he began to make his lists. He checked them twice, and delivered toys to children all over Cincinnati. Then, all over Ohio. Then—the world. Compiled from his baby book, family photos, and report cards, Santa from Cincinnati provides a full-spectrum view of the boy who grew to be the man who grew to be Santa.

This book was released on 2001 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the end of the seventeenth century to the mid-nineteenth century, Spain (and later Mexico) made land grants to individuals, towns, and groups to promote development in the frontier lands that now constitute the American Southwest. In New Mexico, these land grants fulfilled several purposes: to encourage settlement, reward patrons of the Spanish government, and create a buffer zone to separate hostile Native American tribes from the more populated regions of New Spain. Spain also extended land grants to several indigenous pueblo cultures, which had occupied the areas granted long before Spanish settlers arrived in the Southwest. Under Spanish and Mexican law, common land was set aside as part of the original grant for the use of the entire community. Literature on land grants in New Mexico and popular terminology generally distinguish between two kinds of land grants: community land grants and individual land grants. Our research identified a total of 295 grants made by Spain and Mexico during this period. Appendix I contains a list of these grants.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SUMMARY Will The Real Father Christmas Please Stand Up The author enjoyed several years as a professional Father Christmas in a major capital city department store. During those years, he meticulously recorded details of the best of hundreds of visits he had to the infamous Santa den. He was prompted by his employment agency to publish these records, but it has taken him 15 years to do so. Now, for the first time, he is presenting the public with a unique record of many of those intimate events in his own inimitable style and laced with some philosophy about attitudes towards Father Christmas. The book delivers nothing but true events and leads the reader through every stage of a Christmas season, but presenting them in an interesting personality format, rather than a straight diarised version. The humour, sadness, delight and despair are all here in this one true record of Santa interviews and the reader will undoubtedly recognise themselves somewhere in the pages, whether it really is them or not.
