Mak and published by . This book was released on 1997 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The crash test reported herein was performed in an effort to evaluate a modified W-beam transition design (on steel posts with timber blockouts) to the vertical flared back concrete bridge parapet according to NCHRP Report 350 guidelines. The crash test performed corresponded to NCHRP Report 350 test designation 3-11 involving a 2000P test vehicle impacting the transition at a nominal speed and angle of 100 km/h and 25 degrees.
Download or read book Roadside Design Guide written by and published by Amer Assn of State Hwy. This book was released on 1996-01-01 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document presents a synthesis of current information and operating practices related to roadside safety and is developed in metric units. The roadside is defined as that area beyond the traveled way (driving lanes) and the shoulder (if any) of the roadway itself. The focus of this guide is on safety treatments that minimize the likelihood of serious injuries when a driver runs off the road. This guide replaces the 1989 AASHTO "Roadside Design Guide."
Book Synopsis Guardrail Performance and Design by : Jarvis Dale Michie
Download or read book Guardrail Performance and Design written by Jarvis Dale Michie and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Barrier installations are warranted (or justified) only at highway locations where the consequence of an errant vehicle leaving the roadway is judged to be more hazardous than the impact with the barrier installation. A six degree-of-freedom mathematical model was found to be useful in describing dynamic behavior of a vehicle during impact. Predictions of vehicle and barrier behavior correlated with results obtained from full-scale crash tests. Crash conditions simulated with a computer were used to identify and evaluate vehicle static and dynamic as well as barrier parameters. Vehicle weight, yaw mass moment of inertia, and deformation constant were found to be significant.

Download or read book Bridge Hydraulics written by Dr Les Hamill and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-12-03 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The design of bridges across rivers and streams is a major component of many civil engineering projects. The size of waterways must be kept reasonably small for reasons of economy and yet be large enough to allow floods to pass. Bridge Hydraulics is the first book to consider both arched and rectangular waterway openings in detail and to describe a

Book Synopsis Track Design Handbook for Light Rail Transit by :
Download or read book Track Design Handbook for Light Rail Transit written by and published by Transportation Research Board. This book was released on 2012 with total page 695 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: TCRP report 155 provides guidelines and descriptions for the design of various common types of light rail transit (LRT) track. The track structure types include ballasted track, direct fixation ("ballastless") track, and embedded track. The report considers the characteristics and interfaces of vehicle wheels and rail, tracks and wheel gauges, rail sections, alignments, speeds, and track moduli. The report includes chapters on vehicles, alignment, track structures, track components, special track work, aerial structures/bridges, corrosion control, noise and vibration, signals, traction power, and the integration of LRT track into urban streets.

Download or read book Gravel Roads written by Ken Skorseth and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this manual is to provide clear and helpful information for maintaining gravel roads. Very little technical help is available to small agencies that are responsible for managing these roads. Gravel road maintenance has traditionally been "more of an art than a science" and very few formal standards exist. This manual contains guidelines to help answer the questions that arise concerning gravel road maintenance such as: What is enough surface crown? What is too much? What causes corrugation? The information is as nontechnical as possible without sacrificing clear guidelines and instructions on how to do the job right.

Download or read book Roadside Safety Design written by United States. Federal Highway Administration and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This roadside safety design package has been developed to satisfy a need for training in this area. It is hoped that all persons involved in the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of highways will become familiar with the concepts contained in the program. The concepts and practices discussed come from those contained in the AASHTO publication, "Highway Design and Operational Practices Related to Highway Safety". They are discussed in considerable depth in this program and should provide a good working knowledge of roadside safety design. Much of the program is oriented around freeways; however, the principles apply equally toward the lower order highway.
Book Synopsis Transit Noise and Vibration Impact Assessment by :
Download or read book Transit Noise and Vibration Impact Assessment written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 238 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual provides direction for the preparation of noise and vibration sections of environmental documents for mass transportation projects. The manual has been developed in the interest of promoting quality and uniformity in assessments. It is expected to be used by people associated with or affected by the urban transit industry, including Federal Transit Administration (FTA) staff, grant applicants, consultants and the general public. Each of these groups has an interest in noise/vibration assessment, but not all have the need for all the details of the process. Consequently, this manual has been prepared to serve readers with varying levels of technical background and interests. It sets forth the basic concepts, methods and procedures for documenting the extent and severity of noise impacts from transit projects.
