Book excerpt: The concept 'Formula New Ljubljana' is used as a means to explore the citys development as a constant and dynamic process. Rather than being in a state of frozen identity, Slovenia's capital inspires new visions. Formulas state concepts applied to architectural products. They are used as the communication tool in the office while developing a particular product, in discussions with the client and presentations to the public. More than one product can be defined by one formula. Formulas exist regardless of typologies, program, location, budget, time of execution symbolic power, or any other parameter that outline the 'uniqueness' of an architectural product. Formulas aim to become generic phrases and to provide a user friendly tool for communicating architectural products. Formulas communicate architectural products away from their technical or typological categories. A formula captures the character of an architectural product and its effect on the observer and the user.

Download or read book Glass/Wood written by Erieta Attali and published by Hatje Cantz Verlag. This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma (born 1954) and photographer Erieta Attali complement one another perfectly in terms of their artistic statement: both of them focus on the inclusion of the landscape. It is not the architecture as such that plays the primary role but the way in which it communicates with the surrounding world. Details from nature and the intricate connection of interior with exterior space characterize the photographs by Attali. In his unique works, Kuma combines Japanese traditions in architecture with those of modernist architecture. His architecture constitutes a bridge where the individual and nature meet. Kuma became famous in the West for his sensitive extension to a mid-century icon in New Canaan, Connecticut, which this exquisite monograph insightfully discusses and portrays.
Book Synopsis The Project of Autonomy by : Pier Vittorio Aureli
Download or read book The Project of Autonomy written by Pier Vittorio Aureli and published by Princeton Architectural Press. This book was released on 2008-07-04 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Project of Autonomy radically rediscusses the concept of autonomy in politics and architecture by tracing a concise and polemical argument about its history in Italy in the 1960's and early 1970's. Architect and educator Pier Vittorio Aureli analyzes the position of the Operaism movement, formed by a group of intellectuals that produced a powerful and rigorous critique of capitalism and its intersections with two of the most radical architectural-urban theories of the day: Aldo Rossi's redefinition of the architecture of the city and Archizoom's No-stop City. Readers are introduced to major figures like Mario Tronti and Raniero Panzieri who have previously been little known in the English-speaking world, especially in an architectural context, and to the political motivations behind the theories of Rossi and Archizoom. The book draws on significant new source material, including recent interviews by the author and untranslated documents."--PUBLISHER'S WEBSITE.
