Our goal was to create a place where you can record all of the great (and sometimes not so great) notes & impressions of your camping spots as you wander about in your RV. We made this book a place to store information but also easily find those notes again later, so we incorporated an easy-to-use referencing system, organized by U.S. state (or you can fill in your own regions). This way, when you need to look back on your notes from two, three, or even 20 years later, you will be able to quickly find them. Here's how to use this book: Log Your Stays: Turn to the first log and start writing! Use our prompted notes and checkoffs to record basic information and then also add your own notes as a refresher for your memory later. We didn't make space for every possible scenario (there are so many!) So, use the extra space to write down anything you think you might want to know later. For instance, you may note more things like low/high water pressure, road noise, or management/staff names & notes. Did you spend way too much on laundry here? Make a note of it! Did you see a sasquatch walk casually through your campground on Friday night? Make a note of it! And share the picture! You did get one, right? Our Referencing System: It's so simple! Let's begin with the Site Logs. Each Site Log has a number in the corner. When you log a campsite, take a second to record that site's Log Number in the back of the book in its reference section. Most reference sections are simply a state. However, some states are larger (and more popular) than others, so we broke them down into smaller regions for even quicker reference. For instance, we've broken Texas down to 5 regions: North, West, Central, Gulf Coast & Panhandle. Maintenance Logs: In the back of the book, there are pages dedicated for recording RV maintenance. Just record the date, service performed, mileage, and any other notes there so you have that information later.

Each day we discovered something else we didn't know or understand! It was quite discouraging and we thought we might never figure it out. We spent hours searching the web, pouring over RV books, and talking with other RV owners to find answers to our questions. Unfortunately, the information didn't always help and many times what we learned seemed to be more suited to large Class A motorhomes or towables. Our manufacturer's documentation and their service department were invaluable in helping us sort through what applied to our RV. It follows a format that imitates a dealer "walk-through" to help acquaint you with the RV's parts and pieces - but you can take your time with this walk-through! To that end, we provide two downloadable resources: An RV Information Notebook and an RV Maintenance Schedule. Each is in an editable-pdf-format that allows you to make notes, jot down important information, or maintenance dates for your RV. You can save it to your computer or upload it to a cloud service for access from anywhere on most computer devices. Of course, if you prefer, these documents can be printed and put in a hard-copy notebook. So, you might ask what's the significance of the "ninja" name? Our grandkids are big fans of American Ninja Warrior and we set up an obstacle course for them during our beach vacation. They had to learn new skills, think on their feet to solve problems and rise to the challenge of using what they have learned to complete the course. While describing the challenge to the kids, we realized that we had done all of that with our RV "training". We had to learn new skills with electricity and plumbing, become more flexible to troubleshoot our "rolling earthquake" and apply what we had learned to prevent future problems. After several years of this "experiential" training, our transformation from novice campers to fully engaged RVers made us feel like we had become "small-RV ninjas"! Book excerpt: During a relatively short period, from around 1765 to 1780, the Dutch lawyer Jean Theodore Royer (1737-1807) was intensely engaged in the study of Chinese culture. Befriended VOC officials and their Chinese relations in Canton collected Chinese objects for him and helped him with his greatest ambition: the composition of a Chinese dictionary. The objects were given a home in his museum on the Herengracht in The Hague. Better than travel journals, they gave a picture of life in China in Royer’s time. Because the selection was largely made by modest Chinese traders, the collection does not so much give a picture of the material culture of the Chinese elite, but rather that of the ambitious, upwardly-mobile world of small traders and craftsmen. These are mostly ephemeral objects that have rarely been preserved, but they came to The Hague, thanks to Royer and his Chinese contacts. A bequest from his widow then ensured that the collection ended up in two Dutch museums: Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden and the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, where the objects are still present today.
