Amendments to these regulations are published in the Federal Register as they are issued. The regulations in these Parts are generally concerned with the construction, equipping, inspection, certification and manning of certain small passenger-carrying vessels of under 100 gross tons. Part 187 contains the licensing requirements applicable to persons desiring to operate such passenger-carrying vessels and certain other vessels of under 100 gross tons. The application of these regulations depends upon the size of the vessel, the service in which it is engaged, and the waters upon which it operates. Attention is invited to Section 175.05-5 of the regulations for the method of determining the applicability of the regulations to particular vessels.
