Book excerpt: Rosie's Miracle is a story of the seen, and unseen; steeped in the day-to-day reality of the diverse people of northern New Mexico, as well as their profoundly mystical world. It is a love story seemingly doomed to an unattainable future, until an ancient historical object rises up from the ground after a terrible flood. What is the significance of this mysterious object? Can this be an answer to Rosie's prayers? How do the confused and bewildered townspeople of Santa Rosita deal with the meaning of this object? Do they announce its discovery and live with the knowledge it brings, knowledge that challenges the deepest foundations of their identities and roots? Or just return it to its home under the sand. Arthur Kornhaber M.D., psychiatrist, author, and foremost expert on the relationships between the generations frequently appears in the media. He is the author of seven books, six books on the topic of grandparenting. See www.grandparenting.org for more. During the 1990's, Dr. Kornhaber worked with Native American and Hispanic populations in Northern New Mexico to apply "Grandparent Power,"--using the influence of Elders to create a modern, culturally-sensitive, mental healthcare system for the young, and to enhance their ability to learn what their local Elders have to teach concerning culture and legacy. During his time there, he became aware of a well-hidden secret. This personal discovery moved him to write Rosie's Miracle.

Book excerpt: Miss Rosie, a small newborn alpaca, knew at the end of the day on July 17, there would be something special about her lifemilk bottles, leg braces, a large teddy bear, and a very special blankie. Could she and her human, Momma Q, understand and learn from each other? It would be the beginning of a beautiful and funny, heartfelt story that changed lives. Miss Rosies Miraculous Journey is one of uncertain changes, challenges, and acceptance no matter the obstacles to overcome. Miss Rosies triumph evokes the warm and humorous combination of Charlottes Web meets Hank the Cow Dog. But the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13).

Book excerpt: A spirited Southern woman upends the insular world of her small Kentucky town in this acclaimed debut novel by “a storyteller of distinction” (Publishers Weekly). Kentucky, 1944. Though she hails from a Fundamentalist Baptist family, there is nothing conventional about Martha Bragg Pickett Miracle. In her youth, she smoked cigarettes, rode motorcycles, and snuck across the Knob Fork River to buy beer from Catholics—and fall in love with one. Twenty years later, Martha has settled into marriage. But deep down, she’s just as rebellious as she ever was. The arrival of a smooth-talking Yankee contractor leads Martha to turn her life upside down—unaware that her son will follow suit. Both heartfelt and shrewdly humorous, this widely acclaimed first novel from author Fenton Johnson is an affecting look at one woman's reawakening and her son's coming of age in the American heartland.

Book excerpt: Based on the legend of Saint Sara, who with Mary Magdalene arrived at the shores of the French Riviera after Christ crucifixion, "The Valley of Silent People" is an allegory about gaining faith and trust that even the most unexpected and radical discovery has no power to overcome. Though unrecognized as a saint by the Catholic Church, Saint Sara remains one in the hearts of people, especially Roms, who designate her as their patron. Controversy still swirls over whether Sara was Mary Magdalene's and Jesus Christ's daughter or simply a servant, fascinating millions of readers around the world. Joe Clatt's content and uncomplicated life is shattered one evening, when an atrocious accident claims the life of his wife and leaves his only child in a deathly coma. Joe discovers a letter his wife wrote not long before her death, suggesting she anticipated such destiny. Her last wish is for Joe to visit an inconspicuous place located on the other side of the ocean. Against his better judgment, Joe arrives in a distant village on the French Cote d'Azur. The night, after the festival honoring Saint Sara, he meets one person he was certain he would never see again. Guided by his heart he finds himself embraced as a participant in a remarkable journey, no longer a mere spectator. While Joe struggles to uncover reasons why his wife's final wish led him to France, he experiences phenomenal events-occurrences, he believes, grant confidence that his daughter will survive. Are these revelations the answers Joe seeks, or is something else veiled in the mists of time? "The Valley of Silent People" is a fable in the tradition of magic realism of Paulo Coelho's "The Alchemist" (Harper One, 1993). It alludes to the controversial subject of Mary Magdalene from the perspective of an ordinary man, who while experiencing most obscure moments of his life finds himself in the middle of exceptional circumstances. "The Valley of Silent People" evokes an enchanted sense of reverie and poignancy, similarly to "The Mermaid Chair: A Novel" by Sue Monk Kid (Viking, 2005). And while veiling the tale in a magical mist, it lets the reader arrive with its own answer to the question of what is real, and what only appears to be. Featuring the actual village of Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and the annual festival of Saint Sara, "The Valley of Silent People" is a one-man journey through the exquisite phenomenon we call life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: MYSTERIES With ROSES – Supernatural Phenomenon – A Sense of Awe VALENTINE’S DAY soon here – Feb. 14 Valentine’s Day, is known as a holiday to celebrate love, and roses are much loved and admired. Roses were the embodiment of love, spirituality, and beauty in the Middle Ages and progressing throughout history, have become a decorative symbol of earthly love. If you ask ten people to name their favorite flower, probably the majority would name the rose. Roses are given to others as a gift to express one’s love. Another holiday similar to Valentine’s Day is Sweetest Day, held on the third in October, also celebrated with Roses. Although it is hard to believe, there are so many mysteries with roses, which are true stories, reported by people worldwide. Fresh cut long stem red roses (delivered by a florist) actually stayed alive for ten (10) weeks, a historical record! This historical record, an INCREDIBLE FIND, happened to Lynda Peringian, from Dryden, MI. This was documented in the front page of the newspaper, The Eccentric,” and witnessed by so many people. Peringian happened to be an author so she wrote a book about the true story. Now readers of her book, The “MIRACLE ROSES” – A True Story, are reporting mysteries which are connected to this book. “A live red rose in the middle of the road!” said Connie Simmons “A single red rose on the floor,” reported Judi Peli. How is it possible for a nun, St. Therese, living only to the young age of 24, to touch the lives of millions of people a century after her death? Love is the answer. She was extremely full of love, not only with her family and other people, but with nature. St. Therese loved flowers, especially roses and she said, “After my death, I will let fall a shower of roses.” That she is doing, causing a sense of supernatural phenomenon, a sense of awe. For over a century, St. Therese has kept her promise and she is known to be a powerful intercessor to these who call upon her. She also said, “I will spend my heaven in doing good on hearth.” Miracles, grace, favors, and so many good things are happening everyday by intercessions (Mediation) and they are happening worldwide. St. Therese is known as the “greatest saint of modern times,” and she touches us all with her presence from heaven. She is known with many religions (Jewish, Moslems, Christian, etc.). Although some people think she is associated with only Catholics, this is not true. She is well liked and people seek her healing and guidance. She is known as the “Little Flower,” since she thought of herself as being a small flower in a garden. A saint is a holy person who performs miracles. St. Therese’s ability to work miracles comes from God. She is a conduit of God’s power. Can you imagine roses appearing to people and causing us all to wonder. If it happens to you, you say to yourself, “What on earth is going on?” You are wondering if this is a dream. You are not afraid, but rather pleasantly surprised, and happy with this good event... it is a blessing! St. Therese often leaves a rose as her calling card and outward sign of her presence. Although there are no traceable explanations to the fascinations of life’s mysteries, wouldn’t you agree that life would be dull without them? Surprisingly, readers of Peringian’s inspirational book have reported roses appearing to them, usually red in color. They have been fresh cut roses, but also silk roses. The floral industry (florist, gardeners, nurseries, associations, societies, and others involved with roses) have said “fresh cut long stem roses have not lived as long as Peringian’s roses.” Take note that these roses were delivered by a florist to her house which were fresh cut roses, not roses growing outside in her backyard. Roses usually live no longer than one to two weeks, perhaps a little longer. People all over are saying,” I never have heard of roses lasting as lo
