Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Abuela's Letter written by Debbie Zapata and published by American Psychological Association. This book was released on 2024-10-15 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abuela’s Letter is a beautiful story that addresses loss and grief within a Latin family where a young girl is challenged by the death of her grandmother and discovers letter-writing as a way to cope and connect with her loved one's passing. Alma’s favorite days are when her big family gathers at Abuela’s house. Tíos take siestas while tías tell their stories, and primos play dominoes while Abuela stirs the frijoles. Always at the center is the love of Abuela! Alma’s beloved grandmother and her number one fan! When Abuela dies, all of this is suddenly gone. Alma is filled with sadness and grief, until she finds a letter that Abuela left for her. Could Abuela’s words be what fills her heart again with love and sweet memories? This thoughtful story captures the concept of “familismo” beautifully ― a Latin cultural value that involves dedication, commitment, and loyalty to family. Regularly spending time with one's immediate and extended family is part of familismo, as well as seeking the family's advice and support for important decisions and life transitions, such grief and loss. Includes a note to readers in English and Spanish with coping strategies essential to Latino and Hispanic families about grief and loss of a loved one, as well as additional ways to support children and honor the life and memory of beloved family members.
Download or read book Revacion Escolar written by Torin Finser and published by SteinerBooks. This book was released on 2014-03-15 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

It is winter at Nideck Point and for Reuben Golding, now infused with the Wolf Gift, this promises to be a season like no other. Oak fires burn in the stately flickering hearths, and the community organizes its annual celebration of music and pageantry. Reuben is preparing to honor an ancient Midwinter festival with his fellow Morphenkinder—a secret gathering that takes place deep within the verdant recesses of the surrounding forests. However, Reuben is soon distracted by a ghost. Tormented, imploring, and unable to speak, it haunts the halls of the great mansion, drawing him toward a strange netherworld of new spirits, or “ageless ones.” And as the swirl of Nideck’s preparations reaches a fever pitch, they reveal their own dark magical powers.

Book Synopsis Creativity and Time: A Sociological Exploration by : Juan A. Roche Cárcel
Download or read book Creativity and Time: A Sociological Exploration written by Juan A. Roche Cárcel and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-10-15 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book defends that the pursuit of originality constitutes one of the most important characteristics of creativity, but that originality refers, etymologically, to both origin and originary. Hence, the book is structured into two parts, dedicated, respectively, to the creative categories of origin and the creative categories of originary. Within the former are creation myths, games – the origin of all cultural activity, the dialectic chaos-order, axial civilizations – the germ of our time, and the struggle between generations – a factor of social transformation, and, within the second, creative capitalism, creative work in the context of the global economy of risk and uncertainty, and representative democracy. However, these two concepts are not isolated, but deeply interrelated, in a way that explains how creative originality builds a temporal narrative. It has been dislocated in late modernity and, with it, creativity has been broken.
