Book excerpt: In the spring of 1944, Adolf Hitler firmly believed that the llies would invade the Continent via the beaches of Normandy. Anti-Nazi officers in German Intelligence ultimately persuaded him that Normandy would be a mere diversion, assuring him that the real invasion would occur at Calais. Their campaign of deception convinced Hitler to keep half of the German forces in northern France in Calais to defend against an attack that would never happen. This misinformed decision ultimately cost Hitler the war.

John 10:10a NKJV Satan is the god of this world (see 2 Corinthians 4:4 and 1 John 5:19), is the “father of lies” (see John 8:44), and his job description is to “steal, and to kill, and to destroy.” In order to achieve his aims, he most often lies to us and deceives us. Satan often disguises his forces to make them look like natural problems so you’ll fight them with natural weapons. But you cannot fight a spiritual foe with natural weapons but with spiritual weapons, i.e. speaking God’s word to the devil and his demons. Unfortunately satan can disguise himself as an “angel of light,” so it is possible to be deceived by an innocent and apparently correct Christian teaching (see Matthew 24:4, 24:5; Mark 13:5, 13:6; and Luke 21:8). Often these inaccurate or incomplete teachings focus on God’s love and blessings (thus appealing to our flesh and so lead us astray (see Mark 13:22 and 1 Timothy 4:1) and do not mention His greatness, or our need to obey Him and have a reverential fear of Him. This book aims to help reveal satan’s lie and deception strategies and so empower Christians to live the Christian life that God intended. “Great book, interesting and well written based on solid evidence, documented, and not on flights of fancy or fanciful digressions or comforting in a fantastic book where you can find and discover the birth of the religion best known to the world. Through the dialogue structure, the reading is easier even if the terminology is researched and complex. At first glance it may seem pedantic, but you will be fascinated by the events described that so well dot the book.” -- Kalyan Panja , Booktica - Book Reviews

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first volume of this three-volume work reviews the history of efforts to define biblical righteousness. Modern views are engaged and critiqued, from the seminal article (1860) by Ludwig Diestel (God’s righteousness as the agreement of his will and purpose) to others in the theological stream known as the “New Perspective.” Scholars discussed include Walther Eichrodt, Gerhard von Rad, Elizabeth Achtemeier, James D. G. Dunn and N. T. Wright. Other perspectives are also engaged, including H. H. Schmid’s definition of righteousness as conformity to the created order (Weltordnung), John Piper’s view that God’s righteousness is God’s concern for his own glory, and the traditional view, championed by C. L. Irons, that God’s righteousness is his iustitia distributiva. The author examines these views, all of which have been supported by inductive studies, in light of a proposed alternative: that righteousness is conformity to God’s Being and doing. That definition will be explored further in Volumes II (OT) and III (NT). Unlike previous studies, the present work proceeds deductively and experimentally, and thereby seeks to avoid the pitfalls of a dogmatic approach. Extra-biblical, patristic, medieval, and reformation views of righteousness are also considered as background to the modern study of righteousness.

Deception is a process, a road, a path. We need a map, a compass, and a way of knowing the difference between Deception and Truth. But what kind of Truth? Truth that helps us succeed only in this life, or truth that prepares us to live for eternity in a presently invisible System of Reality? Shouldn’t we listen and obey this God who, from the invisible realms, reveals Himself to us through an objective Truth Source called the Bible, & His Son, Jesus, and His Holy Spirit?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More than ever we live in the reality of 2 Thessalonians 2, which refers to the great falling away or rebellion. The Greek word translated as “rebellion” or “falling away” in verse 3 of the Scripture is apostasia, from which we get the English word apostasy. It refers to a general defection from the true God, the Bible, and the Christian faith. In such perilous times of deception and spiritual corruption, a great need exists to seek the Lord, to follow His will, to obey His truths and to follow His narrow path of holiness. To restore the altar is truly to be a living sacrifice in service of God – a servant who will not compromise with the world and who seeks to only glorify God above all.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Katie J. Woolstenhulme considers the pertinent questions: Who were 'the matriarchs', and what did the rabbis think about them? Whilst scholarship on the role of women in the Bible and Rabbinic Judaism has increased, the authoritative group of women known as 'the matriarchs' has been neglected. This volume consequently focuses on the role and status of the biblical matriarchs in Genesis Rabbah, the fifth century CE rabbinic commentary on Genesis. Woolstenhulme begins by discussing the nature of midrash and introducing Genesis Rabbah; before exploring the term 'the matriarchs' and its development through early exegetical literature, culminating in the emergence of two definitions of the term in Genesis Rabbah – 'the matriarchs' as the legitimate wives of Israel's patriarchs, and 'the matriarchs' as a reference to Jacob's four wives, who bore Israel's tribal ancestors. She then moves to discuss 'the matriarchal cycle' in Genesis Rabbah with its three stages of barrenness; motherhood; and succession. Finally, Woolstenhulme considers Genesis Rabbah's portrayal of the matriarchs as representatives of the female sex, exploring positive and negative rabbinic attitudes towards women with a focus on piety, prayer, praise, beauty and sexuality, and the matriarchs' exemplification of stereotypical, negative female traits. This volume concludes that for the ancient rabbis, the matriarchs were the historical mothers of Israel, bearing covenant sons, but also the present mothers of Israel, continuing to influence Jewish identity.

Book excerpt: Did God really say, “You must not eat from any tree in the garden?” (Genesis 3:1) With a seemingly small twist on God's Word, the assault on truth began in Eden. The enduring battle against truth is prevalent today as some argue that there is no inherent truth. Instead, they assert that truth is ever changing and necessary in order to complement the times. Still others pretend to uphold the truth, yet preach a false gospel. They twist the Scriptures in order to propel their selfish and highly flawed agendas, deceiving many. Truth or Deception? urges believers to examine the Scriptures for themselves in order to be equipped to discern between the truth and the lies. The church that believes and lives in Christ can only experience victory in today's hostile environment if it is founded upon the truth of God's Word. While the world is lost and confused, it ought not to be so with believers. The Word of God is the owner’s manual for mankind. It offers guidance and warns on the dangers of the deceivers. Jesus said, “Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32). But how can one who is deceived truly experience freedom or lead anyone else toward freedom? It's impossible. It is time for God's people to uncompromisingly stand for truth and expose the counterfeits for what they truly are—enemies of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many people live a life empty of purpose and value, they feel like they are in a continuous cycle that won't end and in reality, they know that they are not where they should be in life. One way or another they have been caught in deception and led off course, to a place far from their destination. For Christians the destination is to be in God's presence and in the centre of His will, a place of surrender and true submission; the Holy place. However, through deception they have been lured away from the presence of God. They offer lip service but their hearts are far from Him. Paul Anthony Clarke gives an in depth and personal account of how deception causes people to lose intimacy with God and how it takes them off course entirely. This book will challenge the reader to examine their life according to God's word and journey to a true place of worship.
