Several models related to trust in automation have already been developed, and a comprehensive though preliminary model of trust in military automation is proposed. Sets of factors likely to impact the development of trust in automation are discussed, including properties of the automaton & of the operator, and properties of the context in which interaction with automation occurs. Based on the findings of the review, measures & methods to study trust in automation are considered and a program of research to study trust in automated systems is described.
