Book Synopsis Submicron Particle Magnets of Iron and Cobalt by : H. M. Fulton
Download or read book Submicron Particle Magnets of Iron and Cobalt written by H. M. Fulton and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In an effort to achieve very high energy products as predicted by Stoner, Wohlforth, and others, the contractor studied elongated single domain particles and their agglomeration into magnets. Submicron particles of iron, cobalt and iron-cobalt were made by electro-deposition into a mercury cathode. The gel of dendritic particles and mercury was pressed to form mercury matrix magnets. Heat treatments of the gel to optimize particle shape were studied together with the addition of small amounts of tin and similiar metals which formed protective coatings on the particles and sometimes improved the magnetic properties. The magnets were distilled to remove as much mercury as possible and the compacts were impregnated with resins or crushed, mixed with binders, and repressed. Lead matrix and oxide-coated particle magnets were also made and studied. Mercury matrix magnets were produced with energy products of 5.8 x 10 to the 6th power GOe. Electron micrographs show that, in contrast to the fine structure of the submicron particles, a gross structure of the arranged particles may be important for determining the overall magnetic properties.

Download or read book Cobalt written by Khan Maaz and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2017-12-06 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cobalt is a brittle, hard, silver-grey transition metal with high melting point, hard-wearing at elevated temperatures, good corrosion resistance and improved chemical, magnetic and mechanical properties. This book aims to provide in-depth study and analyses of various synthesis and processing techniques and characterization of cobalt that can lead to its increased applications in recent technology. This book presents deep understanding of the new techniques from basic to the advance level for scientists and engineers. The chapters cover all major aspects about cobalt and its application in material characterization with special emphasis on both theoretical and experimental aspects. This book addresses engineering professionals, students and materials scientists.
Download or read book Cobalt Oxides written by Bernard Raveau and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-10-11 with total page 543 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unparalleled in the breadth and depth of its coverage of all important aspects, this book systematically treats the electronic and magnetic properties of stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric cobaltites in both ordered and disordered phases. Authored by a pioneer and a rising star in the field, the monograph summarizes, organizes and streamlines the otherwise difficult-to-obtain information on this topic. An introductory chapter sets forth the crystal chemistry of cobalt oxides to lay the groundwork for an understanding of the complex phenomena observed in this materials class. Special emphasis is placed on a comprehensive discussion of cobaltite physical properties in different structural families. Providing a thorough introduction to cobalt oxides from a chemical and physical viewpoint as a basis for understanding their intricacies, this is a must-have for both experienced researchers as well as entrants to the field.

Download or read book Rare Earth Permanent-Magnet Alloys’ High Temperature Phase Transformation written by Shuming Pan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The process of high temperature phase transition of rare earth permanent-magnet alloys is revealed by photographs taken by high voltage TEM. The relationship between the formation of nanocrystal and magnetic properties is discussed in detail, which effects alloys composition and preparation process. The experiment results verified some presumptions, and were valuable for subsequent scientific research and creating new permanent-magnet alloys. The publication is intended for researchers, engineers and managers in the field of material science, metallurgy, and physics. Prof. Shuming Pan is senior engineer of Beijing General Research Institute of Non-ferrous Metal.
Book Synopsis Bibliography of Magnetic Materials and Tabulation of Magnetic Transition Temperatures by : T. F. Connolly
Download or read book Bibliography of Magnetic Materials and Tabulation of Magnetic Transition Temperatures written by T. F. Connolly and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This referenced compilation of magnetic transition temperatures represents (with the Addendum) papers actually received by the RMIC through May 1972 and consists of two lists (alphabetical by compounds), one for Curie and one for Neel temperatures. Where different values appeared in the literature for a single compound, all are listed with sepa rate references given for each. There is no attempt at critical evaluation, which, except for a few welt-studied and well characterized materials, would hardly be worth the effort. All that one can say for most of the compounds is that for a given material with a certain (or all too often uncertain) history of preparati'on and treatment, stoichiometry, homoge neity, and chemical or structural purity a magnetic transition was indicated at the temperature(s) listed. Only when the reasons for different values are explicitly stated in the literature do they appear as brief comments in the body of the lists. In order to include the most recent data, and to eliminate the delay involved in recomposition of the lists, an addendum is provided. While this requires the perusal of two lists rather than one, it does ensure that the compilation represents the entire RMIC collection at the moment of going to press. The 2478 references are restricted to those papers specifying a Curie or Neel temperature and do not reflect the complete magnetics literature even for the materials listed.
