Book excerpt: Excerpt from Manual of Wireless Telegraphy and Telephony The tremendous strides in wireless during the past ten years have necessitated a revision of this Manual. In the matter of improved apparatus the alternating current transformer has largely taken the place of the induction coil and the auto receptor has all but superseded the coherer receptor in practical installations, with the result that both the working and the efficiency of stations have been greatly improved. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Practical Wireless Telegraphy: A Complete Text Book for Students of Radio Communication In preparing this volume, the author has endeavored to give the non-technical student and the practical telegraphist an understanding of the functioning of present day commercial wireless telegraph apparatus, and he has varied the usual procedure followed in text books by covering first in a general way the fundamentals of electricity, electromagnetic induction, the dynamo, the motor, the motor generator, storage batteries, charging panels, etc, a knowledge of which is quite as essential to the practical wireless worker as the more com plicated phenomena of radio-frequency circuits. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Elementary Principles of Wireless Telegraphy IN presenting this Handbook, the author has endeavoured to explain, in the simplest possible manner, the theory and practice of Wireless Telegraphy. It has been his aim to make the subject intelligible to persons who do not possess much technical knowledge, and to be at the same time brief and accurate. The book has been so arranged as to be useful as a reference book on the subject for students and amateurs in this special branch of electrical science. Download or read book Wireless Telegraphy (Classic Reprint) written by C. L. Fortescue and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-19 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Wireless Telegraphy N this book the author has had in his mind's eye the reader who, possessing a general scientific knowledge, is anxious to know something, not only of the accomplishments of wireless, but also of the means by which they are attained. The subject is necessarily a highly technical one, and the first four chapters are devoted solely to explanations of the electrical phenomena involved. Which explanations it may be added are really little more than state ments of facts illustrated where possible by mechanical analogy. The fifth and sixth chapters deal with the application of these principles to wireless apparatus, and from the seventh chapter onwards the book is devoted to a general survey of the uses to which wireless is nowadays put. No forecast of the future has been attempted as at the time of writing the developement is so rapid that it is beyond anyone to foresee the goal to which it is leading. A short bibliography has been added including most of the better known books on the subject. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Synopsis A Treatise Upon Wireless Telegraphy and Telephony by : C. I. Hoppough
Download or read book A Treatise Upon Wireless Telegraphy and Telephony written by C. I. Hoppough and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2015-06-26 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from A Treatise Upon Wireless Telegraphy and Telephony While serving as Inspector for the United Wireless Telegraph Company, the attention of the author was frequently called to the inability of operators to efficiently use the apparatus installed for Radio communication over which they had supervision. This inability could almost invariably be traced to either a misapplication of the principles governing the action of certain instruments of the equipment, or a deficiency of knowledge concerning these principles. Many operators, having had no previous training, were unable to master the technical explanations given by some of the prominent authors of treatises upon Wireless Telegraphy on account of the mathematical reasoning employed by them. While it is impossible to go deeply into the study of Wireless Telegraphy without the aid of higher mathematics, an attempt will be made in this book to explain in as unmathematical terms as possible a few of the fundamental principles and to illustrate their application to the solution of practical problems which arise daily in the routine of wireless operating. Fortunate indeed is the student of wireless telegraphy who has had the opportunity of studying "The Principles of Electric Wave Telegraphy and Telephony", by J. A. Fleming, and the "Principles of Wireless Telegraphy", by Geo. W. Pierce, and it is on account of the clearness of the explanations and the reliability of information given in the above mentioned books that they will be quoted in the following pages. The author wishes to mention his obligation to the Wireless News and Publishing Co., Sampson Publishing Co., Clapp-Eastham Co. and the Electro Importing Co. for permission to use certain illustrations furnished by them; to the Standard Wireless Equipment Co. for the loan of equipment tested; to Mr. J. M. Baskerville for the loan of a number of photographs of equipment which have materially assisted in explanations; and finally to Mr. G. M. Dodge, whose friendly assistance has made the publication of this book possible. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. This book was released on 2018-01-10 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Wireless Telegraphy and Hertzian Waves The subject will be divided into four portions, viz. A brief outline of what electricity is; a short historical sketch; a description of the phenomena themselves, with an account of the appliances needed for their production; and lastly, constructional details of the various pieces of apparatus required. As electricians generally, with regard to their views of the nature of the medium through which the electrical disturbance takes place, are pretty equally divided into two camps, we shall not favour any particular hypothesis, but simply refer to. The space between the body setting up the wave and that receiving it, as the medium. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
