Book excerpt: Excerpt from Report Upon the Ardlethan Tinfield, Vol. 20 Sir, I have the honor to submit for publication pamphlet number 20, of the Mineral Resources series, being a report on the Ardlethan Tinfield, by Mr. J. R. Godfrey, B.A., Inspector of Mines. A great deal of uncertainty has existed in the minds of the public in regard to the value of the Ardlethan tin deposits, owing to the conflicting reports on the field which have appeared in the newspapers from time to time. It was, therefore, considered advisable to have a systematic examination and sampling of the various occurrences, and this has been very carefully carried out by Mr. Godfrey, who devoted some months to the work. The samples thus taken were assayed in the Departmental laboratory, and the results add considerably to the interest of Mr. Godfiey's comprehensive report, which it is hoped will be found to be of some practical use to mining men.
