Book Synopsis National Subcommissions of ICMI and their Role in the Reform of Mathematics Education by : Alexander Karp
Download or read book National Subcommissions of ICMI and their Role in the Reform of Mathematics Education written by Alexander Karp and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-05-09 with total page 255 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ICMI (or IMUK) was founded in 1908 and initiated the establishment of national subcommissions to launch national activities in response to the IMUK agenda and to promote the reform proposals within each member country. While ICMI’s activities were thoroughly studied, the activities of the national subcommissions are studied only very marginally. In the meantime, their work has been of major importance – both because of their role in exploring and documenting the development of mathematics education at the beginning of the 20th century, and because of the changes and new ideas which they brought to their countries. Importantly, even if some results of their activities were analyzed within their countries in the corresponding languages, almost nothing is known internationally. This book is planned to deepen our knowledge on at least some of the national subcommissions. The book will interest both researchers and others interested in mathematics education and its development.
Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Structural Optimization by : Vladimir Kobelev
Download or read book Fundamentals of Structural Optimization written by Vladimir Kobelev and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2024-01-05 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book serves as a complementary resource to the courses "Advanced structural optimization" and "Structural optimization in automotive engineering" taught by the author at the University of Siegen, North-Rhine-Westphalia, Germany since 2001. Focusing on optimization problems in the field of structural engineering, this book offers a rigorous and analytical approach to problem-solving. Each chapter of the book begins with a brief overview of classical results and the derivation of governing equations. The solutions to optimization problems are then presented in a closed form, with the author guiding readers through several analytical methods for solving stability and contact tasks. Throughout the book, the author takes care to ensure that even readers without extensive experience in numerical computations can understand the conclusion of each relation. The book features several basic optimization problems, selected from a large pool of previously solved problems, with a particular emphasis on the unique features of optimization problems. By presenting analytical solutions, readers can better understand other known optimization problems and gain the skills needed to independently set and solve new problems. With its comprehensive and rigorous approach to problem-solving, this book is sure to enhance the reader's understanding of the field and equip them with the skills needed to tackle new challenges.
Book Synopsis Mathematical Structures of Ergodicity and Chaos in Population Dynamics by : Paweł J. Mitkowski
Download or read book Mathematical Structures of Ergodicity and Chaos in Population Dynamics written by Paweł J. Mitkowski and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-09-19 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book concerns issues related to biomathematics, medicine, or cybernetics as practiced by engineers. Considered population dynamics models are still in the interest of researchers, and even this interest is increasing, especially now in the time of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic, when models are intensively studied in order to help predict its behaviour within human population. The structures of population dynamics models and practical methods of finding their solutions are discussed. Finally, the hypothesis of the existence of non-trivial ergodic properties of the model of erythropoietic response dynamics formulated by A. Lasota in the form of delay differential equation with unimodal feedback is analysed. The research can be compared with actual medical data, as well as shows that the structures of population models can reflect the dynamic structures of reality.

This book was released on 2023-07-07 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume has been curated from two sources: presentations from the Conference on Rings and Polynomials, Technische Universität Graz, Graz, Austria, July 19 –24, 2021, and papers intended for presentation at the Fourth International Meeting on Integer-valued Polynomials and Related Topics, CIRM, Luminy, France, which was cancelled due to the pandemic. The collection ranges widely over the algebraic, number theoretic and topological aspects of rings, algebras and polynomials. Two areas of particular note are topological methods in ring theory, and integer valued polynomials. The book is dedicated to the memory of Paul-Jean Cahen, a coauthor or research collaborator with some of the conference participants and a friend to many of the others. This collection contains a memorial article about Paul-Jean Cahen, written by his longtime research collaborator and coauthor Jean-Luc Chabert.
