This book was released on 2012-06 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Looking good and having beautiful teeth with radiating smile has always been the subjects primary concern. There are numerous bleaching products and techniques that can be use successfully to lighten teeth. Teeth when subjected to bleaching bring about the desiccation of the enamel, making it more susceptible to stain absorption. Freshly bleached teeth have demineralized surface, which are prone to greater absorption of stain when exposed to tea, coffee, cola and other foods with colouring agents. If precautions are taken immediately after bleaching and demineralized tooth surface is allowed to remineralized before getting exposed to stained foods, there would be reduction in stain absorption, and hence decreased tooth discolouration. This book provide an in-depth knowledge of remineralizing agents such as fluoride and milk protein Casein (CPP-ACP) and their efficacy to prevent stain absorption on freshly bleached tooth surface.

Book excerpt: Dental caries is defined as a multifactorial, transmissible, infectious oral disease caused primarily by the complex interaction of cariogenic oral flora (biofilm) with fermentable dietary carbohydrates on the tooth surface over time. At the tooth surface and sub-surface level, dental caries results from a dynamic process of attack (demineralization) and restitution (remineralization) of the tooth matter. It is essential to understand that carious lesions, or cavitations in teeth, are signs of an underlying condition, an imbalance between protective factors (i.e., those favouring remineralization) and pathologic factors (i.e., those favouring demineralization), balance tilting towards the latter. In clinical practice, it is very easy to lose sight of this fact and focus entirely on the restorative treatment of caries lesions, failing to treat the underlying cause of the disease.

Book Synopsis Efficacy of CPP-ACP & CPP-ACPF on Micro Hardness of Bleached Enamel by : Ashwini Bhaskar
Download or read book Efficacy of CPP-ACP & CPP-ACPF on Micro Hardness of Bleached Enamel written by Ashwini Bhaskar and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Teeth when subjected to bleaching bring about the desiccation of the enamel, making it to reduce in its microhardness. While subjecting the freshly bleached enamel surface to various surface treatments of Casein Phosphopeptide - Amorphous Calcium phosphate (CPP-ACP) and Casein Phosphopeptide - Amorphous Calcium phosphate fluoride (CPP-ACPF) brought about the increase in its microhardness, which is assessed in this study. The bleached samples showed reduction in microhardness of enamel and also differences was found between post bleaching and samples subjected to remineralizing agents CPP-ACP and CPP-ACPF. However, CPP-ACPF showed higher KHN values compared to CPP-ACP, but was not statistically significant. This study concluded that both CPP-ACP (GC Tooth Mousse) and CPP-ACPF (GC Tooth Mousse Plus) are equally effective in preventing loss of enamel microhardness due to 15% Carbamide Peroxide bleaching agent.
