Book excerpt: Many people today are praying and searching for a fresh, new, release of revival to come to their city, state, and to the nations. Many do not know what God is requiring of us to have this take place in our personal lives, churches, and cities. In Releasing Revival, Karyl Gaehring gives you biblical steps and a practical guide for God to release revival to you personally, to your church, city, and to the nations. (II Chronicles 7:14), "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." We must remove all compromise from our lives, and live a dedicated, holy, and pure life before God, if we truly are wanting a fresh, real, move of God with signs, wonders, and miracles. As the Lord transforms our lives into His likeness, we have an inner motivation by God's Spirit, to take and release the anointing that God has imparted to others. We bring Jesus to co-workers, to lost family members, to people God brings into our lives, and to a lost and dying world. Releasing Revival will challenge you to seek the face and heart of God. May you find the depths of Him, and find refreshing in your spirit, as God releases revival to you and those you impact. KARYL GAEHRING is an international speaker at churches and conferences in many nations. Many Jesus followers are sleepwalking through their Christian lives. They wear a smile, attend church gatherings, and try their best to make it through, but they don't really expect answered prayers, breakthroughs, or a miraculous change in their situations. Why? Disappointment and disillusionment. The Bible calls this "hope deferred." What we hoped for did not happen, and we are left with hopes and dreams that are dead. But remember: we serve the God of resurrection life and revival! Robert Henderson is the bestselling author of the Courts of Heaven series, and in this latest book he challenges you to pray for miracle reversals in every situation that seems hopeless. Resurrection thunders as a verdict from the Courts of Heaven, for it is God alone who gives life to the dead. This powerful new book will show you how to: Discover the Seven Secrets to seeing dead things revived in your life. Identify the spirit of sabotage in your life - and cancel its influence. Make Lazarus Decrees over those situations that Jesus wants to resurrect and revive. Dismantle the spirit of death—and stop it from impacting every area of your life. Receive stirring biblical examples of resurrection power released into impossible situations. Break off the pain of disappointment and position yourself for answered prayer. Resurrection is not a one-time event; it should be the default setting of the Christian life. We are filled with Jesus’ resurrection life and power! We have been commissioned by the resurrected Jesus to see His supernatural miracle power reverse any plan of the enemy that has sought to steal, kill, and destroy.

Book excerpt: Arrows of Victory is the account of God's reviving work among the people of Candies Creek Baptist Church in April and May of 2011 when the manifest presence of God settled among them for an unforgettable, transformative, and empowering six weeks. Over a period of 42 days the congregation held daily prayer meetings, approximately 40 worship gatherings that often extended more than three hours, baptized a half-dozen new believers, received more than 24 hours of individual public confession and repentance of sin, confessed and turned from six sins of which the church family was corporately guilty, rejoiced in the healing of relationships and families, and experienced the renewing grace of God in dozens of life-changing ways.

Book excerpt: In every era the church needs revival—certainly today as much as ever. And in the heart of every committed Christian there is the longing for personal revival—to know the quality and depths of spiritual reality, and the presence of God in one's personal life. This was the deepest desire of Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones, one of the great 20th-century Bible expositors. It was also the purpose behind this series of messages which were first given on the 100th anniversary of the Great Revival which started in Wales, and swept across England and throughout the United States and to the far corners of the world. As Dr. Lloyd-Jones recognized, it is a rare time in the history of the church when there is a great outpouring of the Holy Spirit— and a time of special interest of every Christian who longs for revival today. As Dr. J. I. Packer writes in his foreword, Dr. Lloyd-Jones believed in "the necessity of revival—that is, a quickening divine visitation—as the only vent that can avert ultimate spiritual disaster. The thrustful urgency of the sermons in this book testifies to the depth of his conviction that without revival in the church there is really no hope for the Western world at all." Dr. Lloyd-Jones deftly draws principles from the lives of Old and New Testament characters as well as expounding some of the great prayers of the Bible. Clearly and forcefully, he presents a masterful exposition of the circumstances accompanying revival in the past, why each generation needs it, and how it will come about today. We must come to the sovereign God, forsake our sin, and wait upon Him for this special, essential outpouring. God, bring us revival!

Book excerpt: Following the Great Awakening under the leadership of such men as jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield, the close of the eighteenth century in America saw a second period of revival which was to last longer than the first, and was brought about through the labours of many preachers, less well known than their predecessors, but following faithfully in their footsteps. 'The outpouring of the Spirit of God upon virtually all evangelical denominations could be called "waves of glory" which rolled across hundreds of churches and communities...Whole communities were transformed by the gospel virtually overnight.' One of the evangelists to emerge from this second period of revival was Asahel Nettleton. There can be little doubt that he was one of the greatest evangelists in the history of the church. Literally thousands were converted under his ministry-and spurious converts were the exception rather than the rule! This well-written and well-documented book tells the story of Mettleton's life. He made mistakes, and the author does not cover these up, but he was a powerful preacher who sought to glorify God, and God blessed his ministry. John Thornbury is pastor of Winfield Baptist Church, Pennyslvania where he has ministered for the past twenty-three years. In recent years he has attained a doctorate at Drew University, Madison, New Jersy, and his articles have been published in Eternity and other periodicals. He is married with three children.

Book excerpt: The daughter of one of the South’s most famous Baptist preachers discovers a shocking secret about her father that puts her at odds with both her faith and her family in this debut novel. “Spellbinding…Revival Season should be read alongside Alice Walker’s The Color Purple and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s Purple Hibiscus.” —The Washington Post A New York Times Book Review Editors’ Choice Every summer, fifteen-year-old Miriam Horton and her family pack themselves tight in their old minivan and travel through small southern towns for revival season: the time when Miriam’s father—one of the South’s most famous preachers—holds massive healing services for people desperate to be cured of ailments and disease. But, this summer, the revival season doesn’t go as planned, and after one service in which Reverend Horton’s healing powers are tested like never before, Miriam witnesses a shocking act of violence that shakes her belief in her father—and her faith. When the Hortons return home, Miriam’s confusion only grows as she discovers she might have the power to heal—even though her father and the church have always made it clear that such power is denied to women. Over the course of the following year, Miriam must decide between her faith, her family, and her newfound power that might be able to save others, but if discovered by her father, could destroy Miriam. Celebrating both feminism and faith, Revival Season is a “tender and wise” (Ann Patchett) story of spiritual awakening and disillusionment in a Southern, Black, Evangelical community.

Book excerpt: Who is seeking to destroy all esoteric religious movements, starting with The Process Church of the Final Judgement? The Process was the most fascinating innovative cult of the 1960s, then vanished for four decades before being virtually reborn by the use of information technology. Revival seems to be fiction, yet it’s based on fact and explores the implications of the internet, and the disintegration of conventional faiths. As reported in the author’s anthropological study, Satan’s Power, the Process was polytheistic, asserting the union of Jehovah with Lucifer, and the unity of Christ with Satan. Each Process member was a fragment of a god, with a corresponding personality trait: Jehovah = Discipline, Lucifer = Liberation, Christ = Unification, Satan = Separation. Before the first page of this book, the computer magician who resurrected the Process Church was murdered. Was this man Christ? Christianity may be the opposite of what it seems, a Satanic plot that subconsciously preaches, “Release the fiend that lies dormant within you, for he is strong and ruthless, and his power is far beyond the bounds of human frailty. Come forth in your savage might, rampant with the lust of battle, tense and quivering with the urge to strike, to smash, to split asunder all that seek to detain you.” Can the surviving Processeans achieve the hopes expressed in their blessing: “May the life-giving water of the Lord Christ and the purifying fire of the Lord Satan bring the presence of love and unity into this assembly”?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rebecca's Revival is the remarkable story of a Caribbean woman--a slave turned evangelist--who helped inspire the rise of black Christianity in the Atlantic world. All but unknown today, Rebecca Protten left an enduring influence on African-American religion and society. Born in 1718, Protten had a childhood conversion experience, gained her freedom from bondage, and joined a group of German proselytizers from the Moravian Church. She embarked on an itinerant mission, preaching to hundreds of the enslaved Africans of St. Thomas, a Danish sugar colony in the West Indies. Laboring in obscurity and weathering persecution from hostile planters, Protten and other black preachers created the earliest African Protestant congregation in the Americas. Protten's eventful life--the recruiting of converts, an interracial marriage, a trial on charges of blasphemy and inciting of slaves, travels to Germany and West Africa--placed her on the cusp of an emerging international Afro-Atlantic evangelicalism. Her career provides a unique lens on this prophetic movement that would soon sweep through the slave quarters of the Caribbean and North America, radically transforming African-American culture. Jon Sensbach has pieced together this forgotten life of a black visionary from German, Danish, and Dutch records, including letters in Protten's own hand, to create an astounding tale of one woman's freedom amidst the slave trade. Protten's life, with its evangelical efforts on three continents, reveals the dynamic relations of the Atlantic world and affords great insight into the ways black Christianity developed in the New World.

This book was released on 2021-07-01 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Revival is bringing something that is dead back to life. Much of today’s Church needs reviving. When God comes in an unusual way, releasing His presence and power over and above what a church normally experiences, we call it a visitation of God. Every visitation of God should become a habitation of God and become a move of God, going beyond that local church into the community, city, and nation. The move of God results in evangelization, missions, and the fulfilling of the Great Commission. Starting in the book of Acts and down through the centuries, there have been numerous visitations and moves of God. We look at Church history. Understanding history helps us correctly interpret the present and prepare for the future. We draw inspiration, insight, and lessons from what God has done in the past, by reviewing stories, and asking relevant questions: What can we learn from Church history about revivals, visitations, and moves of God? What does it take for a visitation of God to become a move of God? What are signs of a genuine visitation of God? How do we steward a revival, a visitation, and a move of God? The “latter rain” falls just before harvest. “Therefore, be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, waiting patiently for it until it receives the early and latter rain. You also be patient. Establish your hearts, for the coming of the Lord is at hand” (James 5:7-8). In biblical context, the early rains were showers that usually came during October-November and prepared the ground for the seed. The latter rain fell during March-April and was necessary for the ripening of the crops before harvest. If we believe God is preparing for a mighty endtime outpouring, a great visitation, and ingathering of harvest before His return, then we must get ourselves and our congregations ready for the latter rain of the Holy Spirit.
