Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Victoria University of Manchester: Register of Graduates Up to July 1st, 1908 The Third Edition of the Register of Graduates follows the main lines of the earlier editions, but now includes all graduates of the University whether by incorporation or by examination or as associates or former associates of the Owens College. A list of Honorary Graduates is given at the end. A dagger ( ) is prefixed to names of persons graduating in virtue of the Associateship or former Associateship of the Owens College. A double dagger ( ) is prefixed to names of graduates by incorporation whether under the old constitution of the University or under the Charter of 1903, II. (3). An asterisk (*) is prefixed to the names of members of Convocation. Except in the case of persons graduating as Associates or former Associates, all of whom were connected with Owens College, the name of the College is added in all cases of graduation up to 1903. For graduations after that date the name of the College is added only when the graduate had commenced his studies in University College, Liverpool, or Yorkshire College, Leeds, respectively. All graduates up to July 1st, 1908, are included.
