Book Synopsis Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena by : F.J. Humphreys
Download or read book Recrystallization and Related Annealing Phenomena written by F.J. Humphreys and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The annealing of deformed materials is of both technological importance and scientific interest. The phenomena have been most widely studied in metals, although they occur in all crystalline materials such as the natural deformation of rocks and the processing of technical ceramics. Research is mainly driven by the requirements of industry, and where appropriate, the book discusses the extent to which we are able to formulate quantitative, physically-based models which can be applied to metal-forming processes. The subjects treated in this book are all active research areas, and form a major part of at least four regular international conference series. However, there have only been two monographs published in recent times on the subject of recrystallization, the latest nearly 20 years ago. Since that time, considerable advances have been made, both in our understanding of the subject and in the techniques available to the researcher. The book covers recovery, recrystallization and grain growth in depth including specific chapters on ordered materials, two-phase alloys, annealing textures and annealing during and after hot working. Also contained are treatments of the deformed state and the structure and mobility of grain boundaries, technologically important examples and a chapter on computer simulation and modelling. The book provides a scientific treatment of the subject for researchers or students in Materials Science, Metallurgy and related disciplines, who require a more detailed coverage than is found in textbooks on physical metallurgy, and a more coherent treatment than will be found in the many conference proceedings and review articles.

Book Synopsis Recrystallization: Types, Techniques and Applications by : Ke Huang
Download or read book Recrystallization: Types, Techniques and Applications written by Ke Huang and published by . This book was released on 2020-03-16 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A very large part of metallic materials is used in the wrought form. Several thermomechanical processing (TMP) steps are usually employed to produce the intermediate or final products, during which recrystallization and its related phenomena such as work hardening, recovery and grain growth may take place. The sophisticated controlling of recrystallization is one of the most effective ways to tailor the microstructures and mechanical properties of metallic components. Recrystallization: Types, Techniques and Applications is the joint work of several well-known active scientists within this field, and each one focuses on the latest developments of their specific topics. This book covers the deformation structure and recovery, recrystallization and grain growth phenomena, characterization of recrystallization, interaction between recrystallization and solute/second phase particles, the competition between phase transformation and recrystallization, as well as numerical modelling of recrystallization. It is a standard reference for practicing engineers and researchers involved in hot deformation and heat treatment of metallic materials.
Book Synopsis Welding Metallurgy of Stainless Steels by : Erich Folkhard
Download or read book Welding Metallurgy of Stainless Steels written by Erich Folkhard and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When considering the operational performance of stainless steel weldments the most important points to consider are corrosion resistance, weld metal mechanical properties and the integrity ofthe weldedjoint. Mechanical and corrosion resistance properties are greatly influenced by the metallurgical processes that occur during welding or during heat treatment of welded components. This book is aimed, there fore, at providing information on the metallurgical problems that may be encountered during stainless steel welding. In this way we aim to help overcome a certain degree of insecurity that is often encountered in welding shops engaged in the welding of stainless steels and is often the cause of welding problems which may in some instances lead to the premature failure of the welded component. The metallurgical processes that occur during the welding of stainless steel are of a highly intricate nature. The present book focuses in particular on the signif icance of constitution diagrams, on the processes occurring during the solidification of weld metal and on the recrystallization and precipitation phenomena which take place in the area of the welds. There are specific chapters covering the hot cracking resistance during welding and the practical welding of a number of different stainless steel grades. In addition, recommendations are given as to the most suitable procedures to be followed in order to obtain maximum corrosion resistance and mechanical properties from the weldments.
Book Synopsis Grain Boundary Migration in Metals by : Gunter Gottstein
Download or read book Grain Boundary Migration in Metals written by Gunter Gottstein and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1999-06-17 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The behavior of adjacent materials at the boundary where they meet is an essential aspect of creating new engineering materials. Grain Boundary Migration in Metals is an authoritative account of the physics of grain boundary motion, written by two highly respected researchers. They provide a comprehensive overview of current knowledge regarding the migration process and how it affects microstructure evolution, focusing their treatment exclusively on the properties and behavior of grain boundaries with well defined geometry and crystallography. With their emphasis on applications-such as the characterization of microstructure and texture, recrystallization, and grain growth-the authors effectively fill the gap between the physics of grain boundary motion and its engineering practicality. The need for better microstructural design motivates permanent thrust for research in the field, and continued rapid progress appears inevitable. Grain Boundary Migration in Metals provides a solid foundation in the phenomena and serves as a valuable reference for professionals in materials science, solid state physics, and any industry engaged in metals production and the heat treatment of metals and alloys.

Book Synopsis Recent Developments in the Study of Recrystallization by : Peter Wilson
Download or read book Recent Developments in the Study of Recrystallization written by Peter Wilson and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2013-02-06 with total page 236 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recrystallization is a phenomenon moderately well documented in the geological and metallurgical literature. This book provides a timely overview of the latest research and methods in a variety of fields where recrystallization is studied and is an important factor. The main advantage of a new look at these fields is the rapid increase in modern techniques, such as TEM, spectrometers and modeling capabilities, all of which are providing us with far better images and analysis than ever previously possible. This book will be invaluable to a wide range of research scientists; metallurgists looking to improve properties of alloys, those interested in how the latest equipment may be used to image grains and to all those who work with frozen aqueous solutions where recrystallization may be a problem.
