El presente estudio tiene como propósito revisar y analizar la literatura que ha abordado la relevancia valorativa, tanto de los intangibles reconocidos como de los no reconocidos por la contabilidad. Desde el punto de vista metodológico, se ha realizado una investigación descriptiva y de tipo documental, focalizando en la literatura más destacada producida en las últimas dos décadas. La revisión realizada revela la falta de evidencia concluyente sobre la relevancia valorativa de la variada gama de intangibles que pueden tener las empresas. Esta situación da cuenta de la necesidad de continuar estudiando una relación cuyo abordaje se encuentra aún inconcluso, en pos de dar sustento a la construcción de una teoría que permita explicar la influencia de los intangibles en la creación de valor. Se aprecia además la necesidad de aumentar la limitada evidencia existente para mercados de capitales poco desarrollados.
