Updating and expanding on its popular first edition, the Handbook of Construction Tolerances, Second Edition remains the only comprehensive reference to the thousands of industry standard tolerances for the manufacture, fabrication, and installation of construction materials and components-- including all-important accumulated dimensional variations. Covering new materials and techniques developed since the book was first published, the Second Edition of this easy-to-use reference features: * More than 100 drawings illustrating the tolerance concepts * New sections on measuring compliance with tolerance standards; right-of-way construction; autoclaved aerated concrete; tilt-up concrete panels; interior stone wall cladding; structural insulated panels; decorative architectural glass; laminated architectural flat glass and bent glass * New guidelines on how to incorporate tolerance requirements in drawings and specifications * New information on how to apply tolerance information during contract administration With the Handbook, architects, engineers, contractors, interior designers, lawyers, and others involved in the construction industry will be armed with the information they need to design and detail more accurately, write better specifications, establish normal practice and standards of care, supervise construction, settle worksite disputes, and save time and money at every stage of building.
Book Synopsis Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites, Second Edition by : Arnon Bentur
Download or read book Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites, Second Edition written by Arnon Bentur and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2006-11-22 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advanced cementitious composites can be designed to have outstanding combinations of strength (five to ten times that of conventional concrete) and energy absorption capacity (up to 1000 times that of plain concrete). This second edition brings together in one volume the latest research developments in this rapidly expanding area. The book is split into two parts. The first part is concerned with the mechanics of fibre reinforced brittle matrices and the implications for cementitious systems. In the second part the authors describe the various types of fibre-cement composites, discussing production processes, mechanical and physical properties, durability and applications. Two new chapters have been added, covering fibre specification and structural applications. Fibre Reinforced Cementitious Composites will be of great interest to practitioners involved in modern concrete technology and will also be of use to academics, researchers and graduate students.

Book Synopsis Specification and Design of Fiber Reinforced Bridge Deck Forms for Use on Wide Flange T-girders by :
Download or read book Specification and Design of Fiber Reinforced Bridge Deck Forms for Use on Wide Flange T-girders written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wide-flanged concrete girders are increasingly being used for highway bridges in Wisconsin. The objective of this research was to understand the state of the art of non-metallic SIP forms and to develop design guidelines and performance specifications that can be used locally for the construction of highway bridge decks. Four major types of stay-in-place (SIP) forms using fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) or fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) materials were investigated: fiber reinforcements, grid reinforcements, bar reinforcements and pultruded profiles. The results were used to develop a model design and construction specification for non-structural, non-metallic, SIP forms in highway bridge decks.

Book Synopsis Evaluation of Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete Panels for Use in Military Construction by : Gilbert R. Williamson
Download or read book Evaluation of Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete Panels for Use in Military Construction written by Gilbert R. Williamson and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) materials are investigated for potential use in military construction, especially as exterior building panels. Because GFRC technology is relatively new, long-term durability data are lacking. However, reliable aging tests have been designed that allow the material's performance to be predicted past the 50-year lifetime required for military construction. Results indicate GFRC panels are suitable for use in military construction. The materials may, in many cases, provide an economical alternative to conventional construction. The recommendation for their acceptance includes the stipulation that proven methods to be used in the panels' design and application (e.g. steel stud frame backup and L anchors).
