This book was released on 2022-03-16 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No matter how many friends and relative we have and how much they love us, when we die, either in the hospital or at home, although they hold our hands or grasp our feet, we can’t take them with us. We have to proceed completely alone, like a hair taken out of the butter. Therefore, regardless of the size of our entourage, and the numbers of servants, relatives and friends we may have, at the time of death none of them can help. We will have to leave behind even our body that we have cherished so much and even our body at the end will deceive us. Only the mind, with grief and sadness, will have to proceed to the bardo. We then come to the conclusion that the only thing that matters is our Dharma practice. The teaching contained in this booklet was given by Denma Lochö Rinpoche at his Dharamsala’s residence between July 20 and July 26, 2009 at the request of a small group of Italian disciples who travelled purposely to Dharamsala. It is a commentary on the Lamrim text composed by Panchen Losang Chögyan (pan chen blo bzang chos rgyan 1567-1662) and called De-lam (The Simple Path).

This book is a result of extreme hard work of the author, researching into the lengthy Tripitaka, the doctrine of Lord Buddha. This book intends to establish a rational basis to the Buddhist beliefs. Lord Buddha preached in Jnanasaara Samuccaya' that, As the wise test gold by burning, cutting and rubbing it (on a piece of touchstone), so are you to accept my words after examining them and not merely out of regard to me.' The author did his level best to avoid personal opinions but to provide coherent answers by directly referring to various discourses by Lord Buddha in Tripitaka. This book can play a vital role in the international propagation of Buddhism. Buddhist missionaries can use this book as a handbook to answer the various philosophical questions which they encounter.
Book Synopsis City of Beginnings by : Robyn Creswell
Download or read book City of Beginnings written by Robyn Creswell and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2019-01-08 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How poetic modernism shaped Arabic intellectual debates in the twentieth century and beyond City of Beginnings is an exploration of modernism in Arabic poetry, a movement that emerged in Beirut during the 1950s and became the most influential and controversial Arabic literary development of the twentieth century. Robyn Creswell introduces English-language readers to a poetic movement that will be uncannily familiar—and unsettlingly strange. He also provides an intellectual history of Lebanon during the early Cold War, when Beirut became both a battleground for rival ideologies and the most vital artistic site in the Middle East. Arabic modernism was centered on the legendary magazine Shi‘r (“Poetry”), which sought to put Arabic verse on “the map of world literature.” The Beiruti poets—Adonis, Yusuf al-Khal, and Unsi al-Hajj chief among them—translated modernism into Arabic, redefining the very idea of poetry in that literary tradition. City of Beginnings includes analyses of the Arab modernists’ creative encounters with Ezra Pound, Saint-John Perse, and Antonin Artaud, as well as their adaptations of classical literary forms. The book also reveals how the modernists translated concepts of liberal individualism, autonomy, and political freedom into a radical poetics that has shaped Arabic literary and intellectual debate to this day.

Download or read book Musings written by F. M. Bonevento and published by Archway Publishing. This book was released on 2014-11-03 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where is this I find me? How came I to this spot? Methinks it seems familiar, yet in truth I know it not. A door with curtained windows all aflutter on the breeze. A long and twisting staircase that spirals where it climbs. A niche, standing empty, where once a statue stood. A door leading to somewhere, but it won't open for me. F. M. Bonevento has been on a poetic journey since 1980. In his second collection of poetry, he leads others through the musings of his mind, across time and space, people, and a variety of settings. As he darts into spaces sometimes known and often unexpected, Bonevento casts a lyrical light on the sacred and the mundane as well as the mythic and the mind. While exploring themes such as myths and legends; the beauty of nature; faith and prayer; and the realm of dreams, ideas, and emotions, Bonevento invites others to reflect on his introspective perspectives while taking their own unique journeys through the mind to explore ideas and feelings about the world. Musings shares a journey in verse created from one man's life experiences and reflections over a twenty-five-year period.
