Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thirteen-year-old Tig Ripley has plenty of good reasons for starting an all-girl rock band. Never mind she doesn't play an instrument--she'll figure that out. Fronting a band is sure to propel her out of the background and into the spotlight at her middle school. So after a few weeks' worth of drumming lessons under her belt, she starts assembling her band. With her cousin Kyra agreeing to play bass, soon Tig has her piano-playing friend Olivia down for the keyboard. And then she convinces tough girl Robbie Chan to sign on as lead guitarist. With a cool name--Pandora's Box--all the band needs now is a killer lead singer. How hard can that be? But when Kyra invites obnoxious diva Haley Thornton to join the band, Tig realizes snagging a lead singer--the right lead singer--is not going to be easy. Everyone says the drummer is the heartbeat of a band--does Tig have what it takes to lead Pandora's Box?

Book excerpt: Includes Bonus Content not included in the print edition! Unlikely tales are the most fun to tell. The long strange trip Eddie DeGarmo has experienced over a half century in the music business is full of such stories. From playing keyboards at 10 years old in his first 1960s Memphis rock and roll band in the shadow of Graceland and Johnny Cash, to his own massive tours filling auditoriums and stadiums around the world with DeGarmo and Key, one of the first Christian Rock bands. He successfully transitioned from his pioneering artist career to accomplished music executive co-founding trendsetting Forefront Records and discovered many ground breaking artists. Eddie then ascended to his role as president of the largest and most successful Gospel and Christian music publisher in the world, Capitol CMG Publishing. DeGarmo’s ride has been one for the ages. He has embraced the changes life sent his way. He has shifted gears, changed the key, and kept rocking. Along the way, you will be inspired, motivated, laugh out loud, and maybe even be a little challenged in your walk of faith and life.

Twenty years later, someone else finished the job. When Rock is forced to return to New York for the reading of his billionaire father’s will, he’s under no illusion that he'll get anything. He's way more interested in the fantasy of bending the unbelievably hot estate attorney over his late father’s desk. Lacey Ward knows her client’s family won’t be happy with the disposition of the Wolfe estate, least of all his oldest son. When Rock enters the conference room, Lacey is stunned. He’s a rebel—a biker all muscled and gorgeous in black leather. This meeting was never going to be easy, but now? She must set aside her attraction to the broody, mysterious Rock and deliver devastating news. He’s not a commitment kind of guy. She's innocence just begging to be corrupted. Their passion is immediate and their attraction undeniable. Rock knows all his family’s secrets…or so he thinks until mysteries come to light that threaten not only his and Lacey’s future but their lives as well.

Book excerpt: He's a rock star with a secret, she's a pop princess with a painful past - can their forbidden romance survive, or will their lies destroy them both? I've earned my bad reputation. A few years ago, I was New York City's hottest classical music prodigy. But I wanted something else, something more. So I chased my real dream, and now... I'm rock royalty. Dax Hughes, lead guitarist of Nothing but Trouble. But to my family and former Juilliard classmates, I'm an outcast. A misfit. A rebel. They're not entirely wrong. I don't give a damn what other people think, and I'm all for breaking the rules... except when it comes to our new opening act, Verity Moore. Rock gods don't tour with pop princesses. It's not personal. Actually, under that fallen diva reputation, Verity's incredibly talented. And her fiery redheaded personality is... intriguing. But I'm convinced the skeletons in Verity's closet are as scandalous as my own, and when we're not sparring, she has a way of drawing out all those secrets I'm determined to keep hidden. Yeah. Verity Moore is definitely off-limits . . . But since when do I give a damn about the rules? "Tara Leigh delivers a gripping rock-star romance that hits all the right notes and is sure to steal your heart." -- USA Today Happy Ever After on Rock Legend "Entertaining, sexy, and heartwarming.... Fans of Kristen Callihan, Kylie Scott, and Erika Kelly will love Rock Rebel." -- Harlequin Junkie

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the dawn of the 1990s, as the United States celebrated its victory in the Cold War and sole superpower status by waging war on Iraq and proclaiming democratic capitalism as the best possible society, the 1990s underground punk renaissance transformed the punk scene into a site of radical opposition to American empire. Nazi skinheads were ejected from the punk scene; apathetic attitudes were challenged; women, Latino, and LGBTQ participants asserted their identities and perspectives within punk; the scene debated the virtues of maintaining DIY purity versus venturing into the musical mainstream; and punks participated in protest movements from animal rights to stopping the execution of Mumia Abu-Jamal to shutting down the 1999 WTO meeting. Punk lyrics offered strident critiques of American empire, from its exploitation of the Third World to its warped social relations. Numerous subgenres of punk proliferated to deliver this critique, such as the blazing hardcore punk of bands like Los Crudos, propagandistic crust-punk/dis-core, grindcore and power violence with tempos over 800 beats per minute, and So-Cal punk with its combination of melody and hardcore. Musical analysis of each of these styles and the expressive efficacy of numerous bands reveals that punk is not merely simplistic three-chord rock music, but a genre that is constantly revolutionizing itself in which nuances of guitar riffs, vocal timbres, drum beats, and song structures are deeply meaningful to its audience, as corroborated by the robust discourse in punk zines.

Book excerpt: In 1992 Baton Rouge, a single rumor has the power to change a girl’s life forever. When it comes to being social, Athena Graves is far more comfortable creating a mixtape playlist than she is talking to cute boys—or anyone, for that matter. Plus her staunchly feminist views and love of punk rock aren’t exactly mainstream at St. Ann’s, her conservative Catholic high school. Then a malicious rumor starts spreading through the halls…a rumor that her popular, pretty, pro-life sister had an abortion over the summer. A rumor that has the power to not only hurt Helen, but possibly see her expelled. Despite their wildly contrasting views, Athena, Helen, and their friends must find a way to convince the student body and the administration that it doesn’t matter what Helen did or didn’t do…even if their riot grrrl protests result in the expulsion of their entire rebel girl gang.
