Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Reasons Why I Am an Unitarian: In a Series of Letters to a Friend Unitarian ministers throughout the land, and especially in our large city populations. If these opportunities are wiselypro fited by, a large reward may be expected from the hand of the heavenlv Father. The needful wisdom involves, it is sub mitted, two things - first, a going-forth to the people; and second, an offer of the Gospel, and nothing but the Gospel, both positively and distinctively. There must be'a going-foi'th. Pulpit ministrations no longer suffice. The Chiistian minister must become a missionary. Like his professed Master, he must go about doing good. In going forth into social life, he may act in various ways for the improvement of his fellow men but he must not fail to preach to them the unsearch able riches of Christ. In order that those riches may be clearly seen, intelligently apprehended, and duly valued, they must be set forth distinctively. But this positive and distino tive teaching can have little effect, unless it proceed from a heart deeply sensible of its value, and be emphatically directed so as to promote the great aim of the Gospel in the renewal as well as enrichment of the life. No propagandism can be truly Christian, or perform a Christian work, which springs not from the life of God in the soul of man, and aims not to form individuals anew after the image of the Saviour. Nothing short of this deserves the name of Christian endea vour; nothing short of this can be expected to secure the cooperation of God's Spirifiand to receive the Divine blessing. Download or read book The Gadfly Papers written by Todd Eklof and published by . This book was released on 2019-05-28 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Gadfly Papers is a collection of three essays written by Rev. Dr. Todd F. Eklof about the negative impacts the emerging culture of Political Correctness, Safetyism, and Identitarianism is having on America's most liberal religion. It's written specifically for Unitarian Universalists who care about the future of their faith, but will prove of interest to anyone seeking to understand how today's identity politics can fundamentally alter any institution, and presents a seminal case-study for researchers of this timely subject. The Gadfly Papers is a substantive, well argued work that's based on plenty of credible scholarship, yet is written in a conversational tone that makes its complex subject matter easy to understand. Whether you're a Unitarian Universalist, a student of history, social science, politics, or simply value the rare but refreshing application of logic, The Gadfly Papers is a book you won't put down until it's finished.
