Book excerpt: True Freedom On Protecting Human Dignity and Religious Liberty Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, Archbishop of New York Are American liberties on the endangered species list? In this eBook original, the Archbishop of New York and president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops issues a plea for all citizens to reject the cynicism of the day and foster a culture in which religious freedom and all human life are infinitely valued. Religion and the dignity of human life are under attack by a variety of threats in the modern world including abortion, infanticide, eugenics, misuse of artificial reproductive technologies, an unjust distribution of economic resources, war, the arms trade, drugs, and human trafficking. What can be done to stop this? Cardinal Timothy Dolan explains the need for all Americans to embrace a new culture rooted in what Blessed John Paul II called the Gospel of Life where the sacredness of all human life, and the freedoms that are their birthright, are upheld, respected and protected by law.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “I used to be a lesbian.” In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could? At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel. Read in order to understand. Read in order to hope. Or read in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

How did he escape the damning clutch Satan had on his life to become the forgiven born again Christian he is today? What brought about his TRUE FREEDOM? The wonderful thing about Dao's story is it can also be yours! Your life can change because there is a way, ONE WAY, to escape the imprisonment, judgment, and punishment of sin. Read this true and powerful story and be encouraged with the words of Jesus found in the Gospel of John: "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed." She must grapple with the fact that the man she thought she knew has lied and deceived her. She may even bear the brunt of shame and judgment when the people around her find out. Drawing from her experience both as a marriage and family therapist and a woman who personally experienced the devastation of sexual betrayal, Dr. Sheri Keffer walks women impacted by betrayal through the pain and toward recovery. She explains how the trauma of betrayal affects our minds, bodies, spirits, and sexuality. She offers practical tools for dealing with emotional triggers and helps women understand the realities of sexual addiction. And she shows women how to practice self-care, develop healthy boundaries, protect themselves from abuse or manipulation, and find freedom from the burden of shame and guilt.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What in the world has gone wrong, and how will it be set right? America is in a moral and economic crisis. Political action by itself will not reverse this moral and economic decline. In times past, Christian revivals occurred before a crisis in American history, such as the Revolutionary and the Civil War. What were the characteristics of Christian revivals in past history? Can a national revival happen again, or are we too close to the end times? Prophetic events relate in practicality to revival in the church today because the believers hope lies in the future revelation of the genuine Christ. History is repeating itself. Neo-democracy, leading to an imperial form of the continuing Roman Empire, is the rising form of government today, and it will rule at the end of the age. Arguments will be given for the identity of the genuine Christ. The order of prophetic events will be delineated leading to the genuine new age, along with the events that follow, such as the rebellion of Satan and the Great White Throne Judgment.

Book excerpt: Hope Carpenter opens up about her personal struggles that nearly destroyed her family, her church, and her ministry, but then God did something miraculous—out of her brokenness, He made something beautiful. As co-pastor of one of the nation's largest megachurches, Hope Carpenter had perfected the roles of supportive wife, good mother, devoted worship leader, and dutiful homemaker. But inside, she was secretly ashamed, sad, and afraid. She didn't know who she was, and she didn't know how to ask for help without bringing down the whole façade. A series of bad choices led to multiple affairs; her husband kicked her out and announced from the pulpit of their church that their marriage was over. Hope was sure her life was done. But in her lowest moments, something beautiful happened. God met her there, and, with a lot of hard work, time, and mountains of therapy, she started to understand the pain that had caused her to act out. She and her family faced their brokenness together, and in powerful acts of forgiveness only God could have arranged, they all found real breakthrough and healing. Ron and Hope rebuilt their marriage and their family, and their ministry thrives today. In The Most Beautiful Disaster, Hope helps readers understand the lasting impact of childhood trauma and gives readers practical steps to uncovering the root of pain in their own lives. She shows how small decisions can lead to big changes, and helps readers find healing and wholeness in Scripture and prayer. Ultimately, readers will be led to hope, reconciliation, and true freedom.

Book excerpt: Growing up in the late sixties and early seventies was fast and furious. The United States was in the heat of the Vietnam War. The theme of the time was sex, drugs, and rock-'n'-roll. I flung myself into the culture and adopted the lifestyle as my own. I was a full-fledged drunk and an addict by the time I graduated from high school. Prison, a failed marriage, and a lost desire to be a father to my two sons were proof that my life was crashing around me. Then I surrendered to Christ. It happened in the back seat of a squad car, as I was headed to prison for the third time. The change was immediate and profound, something only God could orchestrate. I'm a new man. Today, I'm pushing, pulling, and doing everything I can to help others out of the same boat I was in. From my story, you will learn that God calls even the worst of sinners. You see, God is in the business of restoring lives, and my dramatic conversion is a powerful testimony of just how much God loves people like you and me.
