Download or read book Random Processes in Nuclear Reactors written by M. M. R. Williams and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Random Processes in Nuclear Reactors describes the problems that a nuclear engineer may meet which involve random fluctuations and sets out in detail how they may be interpreted in terms of various models of the reactor system. Chapters set out to discuss topics on the origins of random processes and sources; the general technique to zero-power problems and bring out the basic effect of fission, and fluctuations in the lifetime of neutrons, on the measured response; the interpretation of power reactor noise; and associated problems connected with mechanical, hydraulic and thermal noise sources. The book will be very useful to nuclear engineers.

Book Synopsis Noise and Nonlinear Phenomena in Nuclear Systems by : J.L. Munoz-Cobo

This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main goal of the meeting was to facilitate and encourage the application of recent developments in the physical and mathematical sciences to the analysis of deterministic and stochastic processes in nuclear engineering. In contrast with the rapid growth (triggered by computer developments) of nonlinear analysis in other branches of the physical sciences, the theoretical analysis of nuclear reactors is still based on linearized models of the neutronics and thermal-hydraulic feedback loop, an approach that ignores some intrinsic nonlinearities of the real system. The subject of noise was added because of the importance of the noise technique in detecting abnormalities associated with perturbations of sufficient amplitude to generate nonlinear processes. Consequently the organizers of the meeting invited a group of leading researchers in the field of noise and nonlinear phenomena in nuclear systems to report on recent advances in their area of research. A selected subgroup of researchers in areas outside the reactor field provided enlightenment on new theoretical developments of immediate relevance to nuclear dynamics theory.

Book Synopsis Global Neutron Calculations by : Mihály Makai
Download or read book Global Neutron Calculations written by Mihály Makai and published by Bentham Science Publishers. This book was released on 2015-03-05 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Global Neutron Calculations provides assessment guidelines for nuclear reactors in a step-by-step manner. The book introduces readers to principal physical ideas, the fundamentals of nuclear reactors including the theory of self-sustaining chain reactions and the associated physical and mathematical calculations. The required theory, the mathematical appparatus and, the applied methods are comprehensively explained in the first half of the book followed by details about the applications of the theory and methods. Readers will gain essential information about reactor control and surveillance, instrumentation and control, technology, fuel management, core design and the differences in reactor technologies. Global Neutron Calculations demystifies technical and mathematical knowledge about reactor design, operation, safety and analysis for engineers learning about one of mankind’s most controversial means of power generation.
Book Synopsis Stochastic Neutron Transport by : Emma Horton
Download or read book Stochastic Neutron Transport written by Emma Horton and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-12-17 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph highlights the connection between the theory of neutron transport and the theory of non-local branching processes. By detailing this frequently overlooked relationship, the authors provide readers an entry point into several active areas, particularly applications related to general radiation transport. Cutting-edge research published in recent years is collected here for convenient reference. Organized into two parts, the first offers a modern perspective on the relationship between the neutron branching process (NBP) and the neutron transport equation (NTE), as well as some of the core results concerning the growth and spread of mass of the NBP. The second part generalizes some of the theory put forward in the first, offering proofs in a broader context in order to show why NBPs are as malleable as they appear to be. Stochastic Neutron Transport will be a valuable resource for probabilists, and may also be of interest to numerical analysts and engineers in the field of nuclear research.

Book Synopsis Random Sums and Branching Stochastic Processes by : Ibrahim Rahimov
Download or read book Random Sums and Branching Stochastic Processes written by Ibrahim Rahimov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this monograph is to show how random sums (that is, the summation of a random number of dependent random variables) may be used to analyse the behaviour of branching stochastic processes. The author shows how these techniques may yield insight and new results when applied to a wide range of branching processes. In particular, processes with reproduction-dependent and non-stationary immigration may be analysed quite simply from this perspective. On the other hand some new characterizations of the branching process without immigration dealing with its genealogical tree can be studied. Readers are assumed to have a firm grounding in probability and stochastic processes, but otherwise this account is self-contained. As a result, researchers and graduate students tackling problems in this area will find this makes a useful contribution to their work.
