Book excerpt: Is it possible that the famous duel between Hamilton and Burr was part of a judgment against the two by a secret society they formed decades prior to create an American shadow government? This story, telling of the lives of two great rivals, lies somewhere between a Robert E. Howard pastiche and a Yankee version of Thomas Dixon Jr. Rival Caesars is a fantasy Revolutionary War tale by the man who penned the infamous philippic titled Might is Right. Arthur Desmond, who wrote as Ragnar Redbeard, here uses the nom de guerre Desmond Dilg. Might is Right ends thus: "P.S. Book II will be issued when circumstances demand it." The 1903 novel Rival Caesars is that book. Preceding his time as one of the earliest proponents of an American Nietzscheanism, Desmond was an Antipodean radical, fighting in the streets alongside anarcho-communists and trade unionists. He stood for election as a labor candidate and promoted Georgism to both Māori and Europeans in New Zealand and Australia. Fleeing the law, he settled in America among the Chicago bohemian scene, and his radicalism turned from collective rights to individualist might. While Might is Right was intended as an awakening call for "mighty men of valor," Rival Caesars is the plan of action, plotted out under the guise of a historical romance. This novel is nothing short of a rallying cry to an American Caesar to claim their share of pelf, prominence, and prestige in the vein of Napoleon or Cecil Rhodes. Incredibly rare for nearly a century, here, finally, is an accessible and beautifully designed paperback edition, with an authoritative introductory essay by Darrell W. Conder. While it will never be as infamous as its predecessor, Rival Caesars is the ultimate book by the man known as Ragnar Redbeard.

Might Is Right, or The Survival of the Fittest, is a book by pseudonymous author Ragnar Redbeard. First published in 1890, it heavily advocates social Darwinism, amoralism, and psychological hedonism. In Might is Right, Redbeard rejects conventional ideas of human and natural rights and argues that only strength or physical might can establish moral right (la Callicles). Libertarian historian James J. Martin called it "surely one of the most incendiary works ever to be published anywhere." Leo Tolstoy discussed the philosophy of Might Is Right in his 1897 essay What Is Art?: "The substance of this book, as it is expressed in the editor's preface, is that to measure "right" by the false philosophy of the Hebrew prophets and "weepful" Messiahs is madness. Right is not the offspring of doctrine, but of power. All laws, commandments, or doctrines as to not doing to another what you do not wish done to you, have no inherent authority whatever, but receive it only from the club, the gallows, and the sword. A man truly free is under no obligation to obey any injunction, human or divine. Obedience is the sign of the degenerate. Disobedience is the stamp of the hero. Men should not be bound by moral rules invented by their foes. The whole world is a slippery battlefield. Ideal justice demands that the vanquished should be exploited, emasculated, and scorned. The free and brave may seize the world. And, therefore, there should be eternal war for life, for land, for love, for women, for power, and for gold. The earth and its treasures is "booty for the bold." The author has evidently by himself, independently of Nietzsche, come to the same conclusions which are professed by the new artists."

Book excerpt: "Wulf Sorensen wrote the original "VOICE OF OUR FOREFATHERS" in the first half of the 20th century as a calling of the blood to all the of the Aryan tribes worldwide. In this newly expanded edition of that book, the reader will find an even deeper calling to times which are now far more perilous not only for Aryans and all of humanity but to our life-sustaining planet as well. "VOICE OF OUR FOREFATHERS" makes a diligent attempt to awaken the Aryan people to the extremely vital and urgent issues incumbent upon those who are rapidly losing their ancestral and ethnic roots to an alarming degree in the maddening gyre of the modern industrial, consumer driven high-tech age."

Book excerpt: This small booklet lays bare the dog eat dog philosophy behind Social Darwinism, making a special point of the way men have both figuratively and literally consumed each other, down through the ages. It is chock full of grim facts about the history of anthropophagy--man eating man! A rare glimpse of an astounding philosophy, this book has been excerpted from the original book "Might is Right", (1890) and has been condensed and edited for content.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stunning articles about the labor movement, unpublished poetry, and historic Maori translations. Caricature depictions accompanied by writings which caused its author to be accused of plagiarism. In June 1890 Arthur Desmond got his article "Christ as a Social Reformer," published in "Zealandia," a Dunedin magazine. The article quickly became popular and in October he arranged for it to be printed as a pamphlet by Mr. Arthur Cleave, of Vulcan lane. Presented here for the first time since then is Arthur Desmond's accused article followed by Mr. Van Deusen's article "Ecclesiastical Christianity versus Jesus." "Writings in Red" is a collection of Desmond's writings, poetry, and correspondence. All his published works in Zealandia. His Union and strike articles. Critiques and controversy between the years 1889-1891. "The author treats the subject in a style that is new to many in this city. He looks upon Christ as a great Hebrew Reformer, who was murdered because he upheld and defended the cause of the poor. The Tribune recommends this pamphlet to its readers." -The Tribune From the Contents: The King That Is To Come The Starving Poor Of Old England Shearing The Shareholders Political Manifesto Of United Labour Who Pays For All? New Zealander Arthur Desmond, (1859-1929) was a poet, author, unionist, and agitator. He was an unconventional and radical political activist who fought hard for the worker's rights. Nowadays he is probably most famous for having written the infamous 1896 book MIGHT IS RIGHT-his Social Darwinist Thundering Opus under the pseudonym Ragnar Redbeard. Book excerpt: ARTHUR DESMOND A RADICAL DEMAGOGUE Arthur Desmond (1859-1929), a young local Napier, a common worker, a cattle-drover, came from nowhere as 'a representative of the small settler and the working man' when he stood for parliament in Hawke's Bay, New Zealand in 1884. Mr. Desmond caused quite a big stir in the political establishment as an unknown candidate with his strong and radical views. He lost to Captain Russel, and came last at a third place with 190 votes against Capt.Russel's 564, and Mr. Sutton's 381. This compilation will not try to say or explain anything other than what has already been reported by the press between 1884-1885. What it will do is give you Arthur Desmond's first ever speeches, commentary, correspondence, and articles filled with critique and praise. Poetry, and Politics-Love, and War, well, maybe not soo much love. Later, we have learned that Arthur Desmond lived a life under many different names, one of the most notorius was Ragnar Redbeard, under which he wrote the infamous, and supressed book Might is Right, published in 1896. Another, and much less widely known nom de plume he used for a brief period was "Keo Kaha," a Maori signature which means Strong Point. Enjoy this little "scrapbook," a time-piece of the political radical Arthur Desmond. From cattle-drover to Radical Demagogue. A compilation of articles related to Arthur Desmond's first political steps in the 1884 Hawke's Bay election, New Zealand. By Robert Carmonius.
