Download or read book Radiative Heat Transfer During Atmosphere Entry at Parabolic Velocity written by Kenneth K. Yoshikawa and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stagnation point radiative heating rates for manned vehicles entering the earth's atmosphere at parabolic velocity are presented and compared with corresponding laminar convective heating rates. The calculations were made for both nonlifting and lifting entry trajectories for vehicles of varying nose radius, weight-to-area ratio, and drag. It is concluded from the results presented that radiative heating will be important for the entry conditions considered.

Book excerpt: The High Temperature Aspects of Hypersonic Flow is a record of the proceedings of the AGARD-NATO Specialists' Meeting, held at the Technical Centre for Experimental Aerodynamics, Rhode-Saint-Genese, Belgium in April 1962. The book contains the papers presented during the meeting that tackled a broad range of topics in the aspects of hypersonic flow. The subjects covered during the meeting include pressure measurements, interference effects, the use of wind tunnels in aircraft development testing, high temperature gas characteristics, boundary layer research, stability and control and the use of rocket vehicles in flight research. Aerospace engineers and aeronautical engineers will find the book invaluable.
Book Synopsis Minimization of the Total Heat Input for Manned Vehicles Entering the Earth's Atmosphere at Hyperbolic Speeds by : Alvin Seiff
Download or read book Minimization of the Total Heat Input for Manned Vehicles Entering the Earth's Atmosphere at Hyperbolic Speeds written by Alvin Seiff and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of conical entry bodies to control the radiative and minimize the total heat input to manned vehicles is investigated with an imposed acceleration limit on two types of hyperbolic shallow-angle entry into the Earth's atmosphere. The local Reynolds number is limited to retain laminar boundary later. The equations permit any desired values of the acceleration and local Reynolds number limits and of the body radius, body density, and heat-shield material properties. Numerical examples are given for a range of Reynolds number limits, three body radii, and two heat-shield materials.
