Prayer Journal for Men specifications: 16 weeks Daily prayer/devotional journaling Sections include Scripture, Impressions, Reflection and Prayer Includes weekly encouraging Bible verses for men Handy 6 x 9 inches Printed on high-quality white paper Why use this Prayer Journal? Daily Devotion and prayer is a form of communication with God. Daily communication with God will help strengthen your faith as you get to know God more and His promises to you. A prayer journal like this can help you keep track of your prayer journey and help you become more consistent in your habit. Why do you need to talk to God daily through prayer and devotion? Just like any other relationship, daily communication with God is important in developing that strong bond. When we read His word and talk to Him through prayer, we develop a relationship with God. As we get to know Him more, we will therefore understand His will, be able to live our lives according to His will and claim His blessings. How to use this prayer journal: 1. Set yourself off distractions. Set yourself in a place where you will not be distracted from your prayer time. Put your phone on silent mode, do-not-disturb mode or turn it off. Remember, this is your quiet time with God. 2. Start with a prayer. Say a prayer to guide you as you do your devotion for the day. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you God's message as you read the Bible. 3. Read and write down the Scripture. Write on this prayer journal the particular scripture on the Bible that you intend to study for the day. 4. Pause in silence. Pause in silence and ask the Holy Spirit what God wants to reveal to you through the Scripture that you just read. Trust that you will be led and that God will impress upon you His message. 5. Record the impressions. Use this prayer journal to write down any impressions and thoughts that you get. This can be in words or pictures. 6. Reflect. Based on what you read and the impressions that you got, write down on this prayer journal any realizations or learnings. You can also reflect how you can apply it in your life moving forward and how you can teach others to do the same. 7. Pray. End your devotion with a prayer. This can be a prayer of gratitude, repentance, asking God to teach you how apply what you have learned and/or to change your heart if there's a need to. Write down your prayer in this prayer journal.

Book Synopsis A Prayer Journal by : Flannery O'Connor
Download or read book A Prayer Journal written by Flannery O'Connor and published by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. This book was released on 2013-11-12 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "I would like to write a beautiful prayer," writes the young Flannery O'Connor in this deeply spiritual journal, recently discovered among her papers in Georgia. "There is a whole sensible world around me that I should be able to turn to Your praise." Written between 1946 and 1947 while O'Connor was a student far from home at the University of Iowa, A Prayer Journal is a rare portal into the interior life of the great writer. Not only does it map O'Connor's singular relationship with the divine, but it shows how entwined her literary desire was with her yearning for God. "I must write down that I am to be an artist. Not in the sense of aesthetic frippery but in the sense of aesthetic craftsmanship; otherwise I will feel my loneliness continually . . . I do not want to be lonely all my life but people only make us lonelier by reminding us of God. Dear God please help me to be an artist, please let it lead to You." O'Connor could not be more plain about her literary ambition: "Please help me dear God to be a good writer and to get something else accepted," she writes. Yet she struggles with any trace of self-regard: "Don't let me ever think, dear God, that I was anything but the instrument for Your story." As W. A. Sessions, who knew O'Connor, writes in his introduction, it was no coincidence that she began writing the stories that would become her first novel, Wise Blood, during the years when she wrote these singularly imaginative Christian meditations. Including a facsimile of the entire journal in O'Connor's own hand, A Prayer Journal is the record of a brilliant young woman's coming-of-age, a cry from the heart for love, grace, and art.

Download or read book The Better Mom written by Ruth Schwenk and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2018-04-24 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mothering is messy. Our joy and hope in raising children doesn’t change the reality that being a mom can be frustrating, stressful, and tiring. But just as God is using us to shape our children, God is using our children and motherhood to shape us. In The Better Mom, author Ruth Schwenk, herself a mother of four children, encourages us with the good news that there is more to being a mom than the extremes of striving for perfection or simply embracing the mess. We don’t need to settle for surviving our kids’ childhood. We can grow through it. With refreshing and heartfelt honesty Ruth emboldens moms to: Find freedom and walk confidently in purpose Create a God-honoring home environment Overcome unhealthy and destructive emotions such as anger, anxiety, and more Avoid glorifying the mess of mom-ing or idolizing perfection Cultivate life-giving friendships At the heart of The Better Mom is the message that Jesus calls us to live not a weary life, but a worthy life. We don’t have to settle for either being apathetic or struggling to be perfect. Both visions of motherhood go too far. Ruth offers a better option. She says, “It’s okay to come as we are, but what we’re called to do and be is far too important to stay there! The way to becoming a better mom starts not with what we are doing, but with who God is inviting us to become."
