Download or read book Quantum Sorcery written by Dave Smith and published by Megalithica Books. This book was released on 2021-08 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Sorcery is a modern magical system through which an individual can learn to manifest desired effects in the physical world through the exertion of Will, assisted by appropriate symbols and tools. This paradigm incorporates elements from earlier magical systems as well as physics, psychology, mathematics and biology to propose a mechanism by which such an act might occur through means more natural than supernatural. Basic magical principles such as the laws of similarity and contagion are examined alongside the principles of entanglement and entrainment. The application of thermodynamic laws and communication theory to the transmission of magical intent is approached. Examples of ritual workings and the creation of magical constructs are included to display the flexibility of Quantum Sorcery as a stand-alone system, a larger framework in which other types of magic can be practiced, or as a robust set of techniques for those who prefer to assemble their own system of practical sorcery.

Book Synopsis Ethnographic Sorcery by : Harry G. West
Download or read book Ethnographic Sorcery written by Harry G. West and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2008-09-15 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: According to the people of the Mueda plateau in northern Mozambique, sorcerers remake the world by asserting the authority of their own imaginative visions of it. While conducting research among these Muedans, anthropologist Harry G. West made a revealing discovery—for many of them, West’s efforts to elaborate an ethnographic vision of their world was itself a form of sorcery. In Ethnographic Sorcery, West explores the fascinating issues provoked by this equation. A key theme of West’s research into sorcery is that one sorcerer’s claims can be challenged or reversed by other sorcerers. After West’s attempt to construct a metaphorical interpretation of Muedan assertions that the lions prowling their villages are fabricated by sorcerers is disputed by his Muedan research collaborators, West realized that ethnography and sorcery indeed have much in common. Rather than abandoning ethnography, West draws inspiration from this connection, arguing that anthropologists, along with the people they study, can scarcely avoid interpreting the world they inhabit, and that we are all, inescapably, ethnographic sorcerers.
Download or read book Keeping It Real written by Justina Robson and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2010-11-04 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Quantum Bomb of 2015 changed everything. The fabric that kept the universe's different dimensions apart was torn and now, six years later, the people of earth exist in uneasy company with the inhabitants of, amongst others, the elven, elemental and demonic realms. Magic is real and can be even more dangerous than technology. Elves are exotic, erotic, dangerous and really bored with the constant Lord of the Rings references. Elementals are a law unto themselves and demons are best left well to themselves. Special agent Lila Black used to be pretty but now she's not so sure. Her body is now more than half restless carbon and metal alloy machinery. A machine she's barely in control of. It goes into combat mode, enough weapons for a small army springing from within itself, at the merest provocation. As for her heart . . . well ever since being drawn into a Game by the elven rockstar she's been assigned to protect, she's not even sure she can trust that anymore either.

Download or read book Understanding the Magic of the Bicycle written by Joseph W Connolly and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2017-01-01 with total page 227 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The bicycle is a common, yet unique mechanical contraption in our world. In spite of this, the bike's physical and mechanical principles are understood by a select few. You do not have to be a genius to join this small group of people who understand the physics of cycling. This is your guide to fundamental principles (such as Newton's laws) and the book provides intuitive, basic explanations for the bicycle's behaviour. Each concept is introduced and illustrated with simple, everyday examples. Although cycling is viewed by most as a fun activity, and almost everyone acquires the basic skills at a young age, few understand the laws of nature that give magic to the ride. This is a closer look at some of these fun, exhilarating, and magical aspects of cycling. In the reading, you will also understand other physical principles such as motion, force, energy, power, heat, and temperature.

The Valley of Juru in Kryptonian myth is an allegory of the shadow realms within the subconscious, it is here where your magic power resides. It is here at this new depths and places many people fear to go. Deep within our psyches, the unconscious holds our forbidden feelings, secret wishes, and creative urges. Over time, these "dark forces" take on a life of their own and form the shadow―a powerful force of unresolved inner conflicts and unexpressed emotions that defies our efforts to control it. By applying the teachings, one can harness this hidden realm and master it. The use of black magick can be applied to the real world to fulfill your dreams.

Book Synopsis The Force of Symmetry by : Vincent Icke
Download or read book The Force of Symmetry written by Vincent Icke and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1995-02-02 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Force of Symmetry gives an elementary introduction to the spectacular interplay between the three great themes of contemporary physics: quantum behaviour; relativity; and symmetry. In clear, non-technical language, though without oversimplification, it explores many fascinating aspects of modern physics, discussing the nature and interaction of force and matter. All these themes are drawn together, towards the end of the book, to describe the most successful physics theory in history, the 'standard model' of subatomic particles. The lively and non-technical approach of this book will make it suitable for first-year undergraduates in the physical sciences and mathematics, or even to those just about to embark on such courses. It will also be a valuable accompaniment to more advanced texts on quantum mechanics and particle physics.

Book Synopsis The Oxford Handbook of Witchcraft in Early Modern Europe and Colonial America by : Brian P. Levack
Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Witchcraft in Early Modern Europe and Colonial America written by Brian P. Levack and published by OUP Oxford. This book was released on 2013-03-28 with total page 645 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The essays in this Handbook, written by leading scholars working in the rapidly developing field of witchcraft studies, explore the historical literature regarding witch beliefs and witch trials in Europe and colonial America between the early fifteenth and early eighteenth centuries. During these years witches were thought to be evil people who used magical power to inflict physical harm or misfortune on their neighbours. Witches were also believed to have made pacts with the devil and sometimes to have worshipped him at nocturnal assemblies known as sabbaths. These beliefs provided the basis for defining witchcraft as a secular and ecclesiastical crime and prosecuting tens of thousands of women and men for this offence. The trials resulted in as many as fifty thousand executions. These essays study the rise and fall of witchcraft prosecutions in the various kingdoms and territories of Europe and in English, Spanish, and Portuguese colonies in the Americas. They also relate these prosecutions to the Catholic and Protestant reformations, the introduction of new forms of criminal procedure, medical and scientific thought, the process of state-building, profound social and economic change, early modern patterns of gender relations, and the wave of demonic possessions that occurred in Europe at the same time. The essays survey the current state of knowledge in the field, explore the academic controversies that have arisen regarding witch beliefs and witch trials, propose new ways of studying the subject, and identify areas for future research.
