Book Synopsis Pullout Strength of Concrete by : O. Richards
Download or read book Pullout Strength of Concrete written by O. Richards and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A proposed method of nondestructive testing for pullout strength of hardened concrete is under consideration by the American Society for Testing and Materials' Committee C-9 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates. Interest in the method is due to current emphasis on construction safety and recognition that strength of concrete should be measured in structures to determine in-place, load-bearing capacity. The pullout test measures the force required to pull an embedded anchor and accompanying small cone of concrete out of the mass tested. This force is divided by the area of conic fracture to give the pullout strength, which is directly related to other strength measurements to the extent that test masses and curing are comparable. The pullout can be used in the moist room of the standard potential strength cylinder but, more importantly, where potential strength may not apply: in field tests of in-place, load-bearing performance.

Book Synopsis Design of anchorages in concrete by : fib Fédération internationale du béton
Download or read book Design of anchorages in concrete written by fib Fédération internationale du béton and published by fib Fédération internationale du béton. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the widespread use of cast-in-place and post-installed anchors in construction, the overall level of understanding in the engineering community regarding their behaviour remains quite limited. Furthermore, since the publication of the original CEB design guide, “Design of Fastenings in Concrete”, ongoing research and additional application experience has led to an improved understanding and deepened knowledge in various areas of fastening technology. fib Bulletin 58 therefore represents a substantial revision of the original 1997 guide. It addresses a variety of loading types and failure modes and takes into account the current state of the art for anchorages in new construction as well as for their use in the repair and strengthening of existing concrete structures. fib Bulletin 58 provides a method for the design of the anchorage and additional rules for the design of the concrete member to which the load is transferred. The specified provisions are based on the currently available research.

Book Synopsis Fracture and Size Effect in Concrete and Other Quasibrittle Materials by : Zdenek P. Bazant
Download or read book Fracture and Size Effect in Concrete and Other Quasibrittle Materials written by Zdenek P. Bazant and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-03-04 with total page 640 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fracture and Size Effect in Concrete and Other Quasibrittle Materials is the first in-depth text on the application of fracture mechanics to the analysis of failure in concrete structures. The book synthesizes a vast number of recent research results in the literature to provide a comprehensive treatment of the topic that does not give merely the facts - it provides true understanding. The many recent results on quasibrittle fracture and size effect, which were scattered throughout many periodicals, are compiled here in a single volume. This book presents a well-rounded discussion of the theory of size effect and scaling of failure loads in structures. The size effect, which is the most important practical manifestation of fracture behavior, has become a hot topic. It has gained prominence in current research on concrete and quasibrittle materials. The treatment of every subject in Fracture and Size Effect in Concrete and Other Quasibrittle Materials proceeds from simple to complex, from specialized to general, and is as concise as possible using the simplest level of mathematics necessary to treat the subject clearly and accurately. Whether you are an engineering student or a practicing engineer, this book provides you with a clear presentation, including full derivations and examples, from which you can gain real understanding of fracture and size effect in concrete and other quasibrittle materials.
