Book Synopsis The Book of Prophecies by : Christopher Columbus
Download or read book The Book of Prophecies written by Christopher Columbus and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2004-04-09 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christopher Columbus returned to Europe in the final days of 1500, ending his third voyage to the Indies not in triumph but in chains. Seeking to justify his actions and protect his rights, he began to compile biblical texts and excerpts from patristic writings and medieval theology in a manuscript known as the Book of Prophecies. This unprecedented collection was designed to support his vision of the discovery of the Indies as an important event in the process of human salvation - a first step toward the liberation of Jerusalem and the Holy Land from Muslim domination. This work is part of a twelve-volume series produced by U.C.L.A.'s Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies which involved the collaboration of some forty scholars over the course of fourteen years. In this volume of the series, Roberto Rusconi has written a complete historical introduction to the Book of Prophecies, describing the manuscript's history and analyzing its principal themes. His edition of the documents, the only modern one, includes a complete critical apparatus and detailed commentary, while the facing-page English translations allow Columbus's work to be appreciated by the general public and scholars alike.

Book Synopsis The Complete Prophecies of Nostradamus by : Nostradamus Nostradamus
Download or read book The Complete Prophecies of Nostradamus written by Nostradamus Nostradamus and published by General Press. This book was released on 2022-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nostradamus (Michel de Nostradame) was born on December 14, 1503 in St. Remy, Provence, France. Nostradamus came from a long line of Jewish doctors and scholars. He is considered by many as one of the most famous and important writers of history prophecies. He is famous mainly for his book 'The Prophecies, ' consisting of quarantine in rhyme. Supporters of the trustworthiness of these prophecies attribute to Nostradamus the ability to predict an incredible number of events in world history, including the French Revolution, the Atomic bomb, the rise to power of Adolf Hitler and the attacks of 11 September 2001. However, no one has ever proved that Nostradamus's quarters can provide reliable data for the foreseeable future. Nostradamus had the visions which he later recorded in verse while staring into water or flame late at night, sometimes aided by herbal stimulants, while sitting on a brass tripod. The resulting quatrains (four line verses) are oblique and elliptical, and use puns, anagrams and allegorical imagery. Most of the quatrains are open to multiple interpretations, and some make no sense whatsoever. Some of them are chilling, literal descriptions of events, giving specific or near-specific names, geographic locations, astrological configurations, and sometimes actual dates. It is this quality of both vagueness and specificity which allows each new generation to reinterpret Nostradamus.
Book Synopsis The Prophecies of the Prophet Ezekiel Elucidated by : E. W. Hengstenberg
Download or read book The Prophecies of the Prophet Ezekiel Elucidated written by E. W. Hengstenberg and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2005-05-05 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the author's Preface: [This work] is designed to give the reader a clear view of the reality of Ezekiel, and in this grand prophetical figure to bring before his mind at the same time the nature of prophecy in general.... Ezekiel prophesied in a time of great decision, in a time of the 'iniquity of the end,' in which sin was ripe, and with it punishment. He is exactly the prophet for our times. Whosoever penetrates into him will be deeply stirred by his earnestness, and will feel himself impelled to exert all his powers, that the crisis on which we have entered may be brought to a prosperous issue. At the same time, however, if it should please God to bring great sifting judgments upon us, to pull down what He has built up, and to root out what He has planted, we may gain from Him an immoveable confidence in the final victory of the kingdom of God, who kills and makes alive, wounds and heals, and who, after He has sent the darkest cloud, at length remembers His covenant, and displays His shining bow.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The amazing prophecies in Ezekiel 38 & 39 written 2600 years ago have received a lot of attention recently because of current events in the Middle East North Africa Europe & Russia. Ezekiel has over 800 predictive verses. This remarkable prophecy by one of the greatest of ancient Hebrew prophets–never before literally fulfilled in history–predicts that a great power to the far north of Israel & a coalition of nations–a massive horde of people will attack Israel & be destroyed supernaturally by God on the mountains of Israel. God promises this day is coming. Perhaps it's coming soon. The historically miraculous rebirth of the Jewish state in 1948 after 2000 years of nonexistence & the conquering of East Jerusalem during the Six-Day War in 1967 & other factors seem to have set the stage for a time clock of sorts relative to the upcoming "last days" of Israel & the fulfillment of many remaining prophecies relevant to that period. & indeed today Russia a great power to Israel's far north & the Muslim nations particularly Iran are growing increasingly intertwined & hostile toward Israel.
