Download or read book Updating and Maintaining the Rigid Pavement Condition Survey Database for TxDOT written by Terry Dossey and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents the results of a study to plan for updating and maintaining the rigid pavement condition survey database for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). These data will be used to develop performance prediction models for rigid pavements (continuously reinforced concrete, jointed reinforced concrete and jointed plain concrete pavements) in Texas. These models will be developed for the Texas Department of Transportation for future incorporation into the Texas Pavement Management Information System (PMIS). The data collected in this project and in future projects will be combined with data collected from Project 472, which are summarized in the references, to provide improved long-term performance prediction capability.

Download or read book Texas Flexible Pavements and Overlays written by Sang Ick Lee and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This five--year project was initiated to collect materials and pavement performance data on a minimum of 100 highway test sections around the state of Texas, incorporating both flexible pavements and overlays. Besides being used to calibrate and validate mechanistic-empirical (M-E) design models, the data collected will also serve as an ongoing reference data source and/or diagnostic tool for Texas Department of Transportation engineers and other transportation professionals. Toward this goal, this second interim report provides documentation of the work performed from Year 1 through Year 5 of this project, focusing on Phases II and III activities, including the following: (a) collection, processing, and analysis of laboratory and field data; (b) data population and update in the data storage system (DSS) and raw data storage system for the project 0-6658 (RDSSP), respectively; (c) development of M-E calibration plans and guideline; and (d) preliminary calibration of the M-E models and software to Texas conditions using the collected data in the DSS.
Book Synopsis The Rigid Pavement Database by : Terry Dossey
Download or read book The Rigid Pavement Database written by Terry Dossey and published by . This book was released on 1998 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rigid pavement (RP) database contains historical distress data obtained from more than 400 continuously reinforced concrete pavements (CRCP) and jointed concrete pavements (JCP) across the state of Texas. Data collection efforts began in 1974 and have been undertaken periodically up to the present. The database contents include such performance-related variables as punchouts, patches, spalling, ride score, crack spacing, and deflection basins, as well as such inventory variables as location, design thickness, coarse aggregate type, climate, soil characteristics, date of construction, and overlay status. Taken as a whole, the RP database comprises a unique asset for empirical investigation of factors affecting long-term pavement performance in Texas.

Book Synopsis Strategic Plan for Improved Concrete Pavement Surface Characteristics by :
Download or read book Strategic Plan for Improved Concrete Pavement Surface Characteristics written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface characteristics represent a critical issue facing pavement owners and the concrete paving industry. The traveling public has come to expect smoother, quieter, and better drained pavements, all without compromising safety. The overall surface characteristics issue is extremely complex since all pavement surface characteristics properties, including texture, noise, friction, splash/spray, rolling resistance, reflectivity/illuminance, and smoothness, are complexly related. The following needs and gaps related to achieving desired pavement surface characteristics need to be addressed: determine how changes in one surface characteristic affect, either beneficially or detrimentally, other characteristics of the pavement, determine the long-term surface and acoustic durability of different textures, and develop, evaluate, and standardize new data collection and analysis tools. It is clear that an overall strategic and coordinated research approach to the problem must be developed and pursued to address these needs and gaps.
