Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews the substantial changes that occurred in France during the period in which a left wing president and government controlled the nations destiny. In their quest for a solution to the countrys mounting difficulties, the Socialists adopted a very different range of policies from their predecessors. Tuppen appraises the recent pattern of social and economic development in France, particularly the impact of recession and the socialist prescription for revival. Each chapter focuses on a limited number of significant changes and key issues that have become the subject of extensive debate. Particular emphasis is given to controversial issues such as unemployment, immigration, economic regeneration, urban renewal, and decentralization, and case studies are used extensively to help illustrate these topics. Finally, where appropriate, analysis is carried out at a regional as well as national level, lending spatial dimension to the study.

The overall performance of the project is moderately satisfactory. The project is relevant in its response to climate change adaptation needs in Senegal. The evaluation found that the project has contributed to capacity building of institutional actors and farmers organizations on climate change adaptation, resilience and gender equity. Notable results include: capacity building of technicians, relay producers, farmers and agro-pastoralists on good practices of adaptation to climate change, through the field-school approach; the establishment of a climate resilience fund that has allowed to finance micro-projects in rural area; the dissemination of agro-climatic information; trainings on adapted climate change practices at the farmfer field school (FFS) and agropastoral field school (APFS) level.

Book Synopsis Authentic Co-production of Public Space by : Paola Michialino
Download or read book Authentic Co-production of Public Space written by Paola Michialino and published by Presses univ. de Louvain. This book was released on 2006 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study tests the potential of a facilitated action-research approach in participative urban design projects to act as catalysts in countering social violence in distressed quarters of France. It evaluates the FAR programme (Formation Action Recherche pour la coproduction et gestion des espaces publics) in the region Nord – Pas de Calais as a local strategy for achieving the national objectives of social reform – as envisioned by President Mitterand and encapsulated in the national Politique de la Ville. Significantly, this study identifies the critical importance of positive political will at all levels in achieving the goals of the Politique de la Ville, and it provides a possible explanation for the failure of previous attempts to engage residents effectively. It also indicates possible future strategies for planning participative projects where they are intended to promote integrated social, urban and economic development.

Download or read book Perspectives written by Sajitha Bashir and published by World Bank Publications. This book was released on 2019-08-28 with total page 548 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
