Download or read book Proceedings of the Second International Conference on Massively Parallel Processing Using Optical Interconnections, October 23-24, 1995, San Antonio, Texas written by Eugen Schenfeld and published by Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers(IEEE). This book was released on 1995 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation Offers eight invited lectures by contributors from academia and industry in the fields of parallel computer systems, optical interconnections, and technology; two panel discussions; and 34 papers by contributors from throughout the world. In addition to reporting on recent advances in the field, they speculate on how optical interconnections might impact the design of parallel computer systems and communication networks, and the writing of applications and algorithms. Among the topics are reconfigurable architectures, embedding and mapping of applications and algorithms, the packaging and layout of optical interconnections, passive optical elements, data distribution and partitioning, and cost/performance studies. Book Synopsis Biologically Inspired Cooperative Computing by : Yi Pan
Download or read book Biologically Inspired Cooperative Computing written by Yi Pan and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-24 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the world of information technology, it is no longer the computer in the classical sense where the majority of IT applications is executed; computing is everywhere. More than 20 billion processors have already been fabricated and the majority of them can be assumed to still be operational. At the same time, virtually every PC worldwide is connected via the Internet. This combination of traditional and embedded computing creates an artifact of a complexity, heterogeneity, and volatility unmanageable by classical means. Each of our technical artifacts with a built-in processor can be seen as a ''Thing that Thinks", a term introduced by MIT's Thinglab. It can be expected that in the near future these billions of Things that Think will become an ''Internet of Things", a term originating from ETH Zurich. This means that we will be constantly surrounded by a virtual "organism" of Things that Think. This organism needs novel, adequate design, evolution, and management means which is also one of the core challenges addressed by the recent German priority research program on Organic Computing.

This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Knowledge-Based Information Retrieval and Filtering from the Web contains fifteen chapters, contributed by leading international researchers, addressing the matter of information retrieval, filtering and management of the information on the Internet. The research presented deals with the need to find proper solutions for the description of the information found on the Internet, the description of the information consumers need, the algorithms for retrieving documents (and indirectly, the information embedded in them), and the presentation of the information found. The chapters include: -Ontological representation of knowledge on the WWW; -Information extraction; -Information retrieval and administration of distributed documents; -Hard and soft modeling based knowledge capture; -Summarization of texts found on the WWW; -User profiles and personalization for web-based information retrieval system; -Information retrieval under constricted bandwidth; -Multilingual WWW; -Generic hierarchical classification using the single-link clustering; -Clustering of documents on the basis of text fuzzy similarity; -Intelligent agents for document categorization and adaptive filtering; -Multimedia retrieval and data mining for E-commerce and E-business; -A Web-based approach to competitive intelligence; -Learning ontologies for domain-specific information retrieval; -An open, decentralized architecture for searching for, and publishing information in distributed systems.
