This book was released on 2023-05-23 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an open access book. The global economy is by definition the movement of resources (goods, services and capital) across national borders. The more open relations between countries will affect changes in the regional and global regions, this condition is characterized by the level of domestic economic resilience. Currently, technology with its dynamics requires every country to move to follow, citing at the G20 the role of multilateral trading system to strengthen the achievement SDGs, digital trade sustainable, global value chains (GVCs) and sustainable and inclusive industrialization via industry 4.0. Based on the statement above, it shows that modernization and sustainable 4.0 equivalent industrialization are the demands of multi-sectors including the agricultural sector. For Indonesia, agriculture plays a strategic role in the national economy, with the challenges of sustainable agriculture, the role of agriculture is shown in addition to being a provider of food, industrial raw materials, feed and bioenergy, a source of labor absorption, a source of state foreign exchange as well as environmental preservation with an environmentally friendly farming program approach. Sustainable agriculture practices are ideal, but the dimensions of the scope of sustainable agriculture interests and the substance of their meaning are definitely different. Through the international agricultural seminar or The 3rd International Conference Agriculture (ICA) with the theme Modernization And Industrialization To Support Sustainable Agriculture Facing Global Economy which will be held on September 21, 2022 is one of the efforts in equalizing understanding and collecting sustainable farming innovations that are in line with the sustainable development goals and have become the country's commitment in order to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the face of the global economy.

Book excerpt: Like a data-guzzling turbo engine, advanced data mining has been powering post-genome biological studies for two decades. Reflecting this growth, Biological Data Mining presents comprehensive data mining concepts, theories, and applications in current biological and medical research. Each chapter is written by a distinguished team of interdisciplinary data mining researchers who cover state-of-the-art biological topics. The first section of the book discusses challenges and opportunities in analyzing and mining biological sequences and structures to gain insight into molecular functions. The second section addresses emerging computational challenges in interpreting high-throughput Omics data. The book then describes the relationships between data mining and related areas of computing, including knowledge representation, information retrieval, and data integration for structured and unstructured biological data. The last part explores emerging data mining opportunities for biomedical applications. This volume examines the concepts, problems, progress, and trends in developing and applying new data mining techniques to the rapidly growing field of genome biology. By studying the concepts and case studies presented, readers will gain significant insight and develop practical solutions for similar biological data mining projects in the future.

It details the characteristics and future requirements of no-till farming systems across different geographic and climatic regions, and outlines what is needed to increase the uptake of no-till farming globally. Over 35 chapters, this book covers in detail the agronomic and soil management issues that must be resolved to ensure the successful implementation of these systems. Important economic, environmental, social and policy considerations are discussed. It also features a series of case studies across a number of regions globally, highlighting the challenges and opportunities for no-till and how these may vary depending on climate and geopolitical location. This book is a remarkable compilation by experts in no-till farming systems. The promotion and expansion of no-till farming systems worldwide will be critical for food security, and resource and environmental sustainability. This is an invaluable reference for both researchers and practitioners grappling with the challenges of feeding the world’s rising population in an environment increasingly impacted by climate change. It is an essential reading for those seeking to understand the complexity of no-till farming systems and how best to optimise these systems in their region.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The interactions between the plant, soil and microbes are complex in nature. Events may be antagonistic, mutualistic or synergistic, depending upon the types of microorganisms and their association with the plant and soil in question. Multi-trophic tactics can therefore be employed to nourish plants in various habitats and growth conditions. Understanding the mechanisms of these interactions is thus highly desired in order to utilize the knowledge in an ecofriendly and sustainable way. This holistic approach to crop improvement may not only resolve the upcoming food security issues, but also make the environment greener by reducing the chemical inputs. Plant, soil and microbe, Volume 1: Implications in Crop Science, along with the forthcoming Volume 2: Mechanisms and Molecular Interactions, provide detailed accounts of the exquisite and delicate balance between the three critical components of agronomy. Specifically, these two titles focus on the basis of nutrient exchange between the microorganisms and the host plants, the mechanism of disease protection and the recent molecular details emerged from studying this multi-tropic interaction. Together they aim to provide a solid foundation for the students, teachers, and researchers interested in soil microbiology, plant pathology, ecology and agronomy.

Book excerpt: The history of design has traditionally been a story of new ideas, new theories and, above all, new construction. However, today, the developed world is on the cusp of a new era. The financial crisis, the sustainability movement and the conservation agenda are all leading to ever more alterations of existing buildings - and ever fewer new build projects. This new condition will have major consequences for all those involved in the design of the built environment both now, and in the future. In one regard, the simple economics of new build is bringing into question the need, indeed the desirability, of constructing from scratch. From a sustainable perspective the same picture can be seen to be forming, at least in certain contexts. The material resources involved in new-build make it an option ecologically detrimental and damaging when compared with renovation. Both these issues sit alongside a now deep rooted heritage agenda in Europe and, increasingly, in the Americas, Africa and Asia. Invariably, the arguments put forward from this perspective discourage new build when it involves the destruction of existing valued building stock. These issues, that will invariably alter the nature of the profession form the basis of Reinventing Architecture and Interiors - a book that challenges the standard view on the relationship between interiors and architecture. Written by international experts it is fully illustrated with contemporary examples. It is an important addition to the literature of architecture and interiors today.

Book excerpt: It is more than clear that during the last decades the interest in environmental issues is constantly increasing and environmental issues have gradually been broadened, including economic and social responsibilities. Among several issues, the treatment of wastewater, and consequently, the handling of sewage sludge generated, are of the most significant challenges in environmental management. The properties of sludge depend on the contents of the wastewater treated and also on the operational characteristics of the wastewater and sludge treatment facilities. Treated sludge can be recycled or disposed of using three main routes: recycling to agriculture, incineration or land filling. This book reviews current scientific knowledge on the sewage sludge topic and assess the environmental and economic impact of the main disposal and recycling routes for sewage sludge.

Book excerpt: This book contains the research contributions presented at the 14th International Conference on Computing and Information Technology (IC2IT 2018) organised by King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok and its partners, and held in the northern Thai city of Chiang Mai in July 2018. Traditionally, IC2IT 2018 provides a forum for exchange on the state of the art and on expected future developments in its field. Correspondingly, this book contains chapters on topics in data mining, machine learning, natural language processing, image processing, networks and security, software engineering and information technology. With them, the editors want to foster inspiring discussions among colleagues, not only during the conference. It is also intended to contribute to a deeper understanding of the underlying problems as needed to solve them in complex environments and, beneficial for this purpose, to encourage interdisciplinary cooperation.
