Book excerpt: The present thesis investigates the usage of higher order accurate time integrators together with appropriate error estimators for small and finite dynamic (visco)plasticity. Therefore, a general (visco)plastic problem is defined which serves as a basis to create closed-form solution strategies. A classical access towards small and finite (visco)plasticity is integrated into this concept. This approach is based on the idea, that the balance of linear momentum is formulated in a weak sense and the material laws are included indirectly. Thus, separate time discretizations are implemented and an appropriate coupling between them is necessary. Limitations for the usage of time integrators are the consequence. In contrast, an alternative multifield formulation is derived, adapting the principle of Jourdain. The idea is to assume that the balance of energy - taking into account a pseudopotential representing dissipative effects – resembles a rate-type functional, whose stationarity condition leads to the equations describing small or finite dynamic (visco)plasticity. Accordingly, the material laws and the balance of linear momentum can be solved on the same level and only one single time discretization has to be performed. A greater freedom in the choice of time integrators is obtained and the application of higher order accurate schemes - such as Newmark’s method, fully implicit as well as diagonally implicit Runge-Kutta schemes, and continuous as well as discontinuous Galerkin methods - is facilitated. An analysis and a comparison of the classical and the multifield formulation is accomplished by means of distinct examples. In this context, a dynamic benchmark problem is developed, which allows to focus on the effect of different time integrators. For this investigation, a variety of time discretization error estimators are formulated, evaluated, and compared.

Book excerpt: This book presents the outcomes of the 16th International Conference on Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence Research, Management and Applications (SERA 2018), which was held in Kunming, China on June 13–15, 2018. The aim of the conference was to bring together researchers and scientists, businessmen and entrepreneurs, teachers, engineers, computer users, and students to discuss the various fields of computer science, to share their experiences, and to exchange new ideas and information in a meaningful way. The book includes findings on all aspects (theory, applications and tools) of computer and information science, and discusses related practical challenges and the solutions adopted to solve them. The conference organizers selected the best papers from those accepted for presentation. The papers were chosen based on review scores submitted by members of the program committee and underwent a further rigorous round of review. From this second round, 13 of the conference’s most promising papers were then published in this Springer (SCI) book and not the conference proceedings. We eagerly await the important contributions that we know these authors will make to the field of computer and information science.

This book was released on 2008-07-14 with total page 642 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spectral techniques facilitate the design and testing of today's increasingly complex digital devices There is heightened interest in spectral techniques for the design of digital devices dictated by ever increasing demands on technology that often cannot be met by classical approaches. Spectral methods provide a uniform and consistent theoretic environment for recent achievements in this area, which appear divergent in many other approaches. Spectral Logic and Its Applications for the Design of Digital Devices gives readers a foundation for further exploration of abstract harmonic analysis over finite groups in the analysis, design, and testing of digital devices. After an introduction, this book provides the essential mathematical background for discussing spectral methods. It then delves into spectral logic and its applications, covering: * Walsh, Haar, arithmetic transform, Reed-Muller transform for binary-valued functions and Vilenkin-Chrestenson transform, generalized Haar, and other related transforms for multiple-valued functions * Polynomial expressions and decision diagram representations for switching and multiple-value functions * Spectral analysis of Boolean functions * Spectral synthesis and optimization of combinational and sequential devices * Spectral methods in analysis and synthesis of reliable devices * Spectral techniques for testing computer hardware This is the authoritative reference for computer science and engineering professionals and researchers with an interest in spectral methods of representing discrete functions and related applications in the design and testing of digital devices. It is also an excellent text for graduate students in courses covering spectral logic and its applications.
