Book Synopsis Teaching and Learning in a Digital World by : Michael E. Auer
Download or read book Teaching and Learning in a Digital World written by Michael E. Auer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-12-26 with total page 981 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book gathers the Proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Interactive Collaborative Learning (ICL2017), held in Budapest, Hungary on 27–29 September 2017. The authors are currently witnessing a significant transformation in the development of education. The impact of globalisation on all areas of human life, the exponential acceleration of technological developments and global markets, and the need for flexibility and agility are essential and challenging elements of this process that have to be tackled in general, but especially in engineering education. To face these current real-world challenges, higher education has to find innovative ways to quickly respond to them. Since its inception in 1998, this conference has been devoted to new approaches in learning with a focus on collaborative learning. Today the ICL conferences offer a forum for exchange concerning relevant trends and research results, and for sharing practical experience gained while developing and testing elements of new technologies and pedagogies in the learning context.
Book Synopsis Advances in Cryogenic Engineering by : Peter Kittel
Download or read book Advances in Cryogenic Engineering written by Peter Kittel and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 2054 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Oregon Convention Center, Portland, Oregon, was the venue for the 1997 Cryogenic Engineering Conference. The meeting was held jointly with the International Cryogenic Materials Conference. John Barclay, of the University of Victoria, and David Smathers, of Cabot Performance Materials, were conference chairmen. Portland is the home of Northwest Natural Gas, a pioneer in the use of liquid natural gas, and Portland State University, where cryogenic research has long been conducted. The program consisted of 350 CEC papers, considerable more than CEC-95. This was the largest number of papers ever submitted to the CEC. Of these, 263 papers are published here, in Volume 43 of Advances in Cryogenic Engineering. Once again the volume is published in two books. CEC PAPER REVIEW PROCESS Since 1954 Advances in Cryogenic Engineering has been the archival publication of papers presented at the biennial CEC!ICMC conferences. The publication includes invited, unsolicited, and government sponsored research papers in the research areas of cryogenic engineering and applications. All of the papers published must (1) be presented at the conference, (2) pass the peer review process, and (3) report previously unpublished theoretical studies, reviews, or advances in cryogenic engineering.

Book Synopsis Application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to Accelerators by : Robert Garnett
Download or read book Application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to Accelerators written by Robert Garnett and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-10-31 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine learning (ML) promise significant enhancements for particle accelerator operations, including applications in diagnostics, controls, and modeling. Challenges still exist in experimentally verifying AI/ML methods before deployment at user facilities. The ability to quickly generalize and adapt these methods to new operating configurations at the same facility or between facilities also remains a challenge and requires combining model-independent adaptive feedback with traditional ML tools. These methods also apply to the detection, classification, and prevention of operational anomalies that can cause accelerator damage or excessive beam loss in the case of abnormal operations. Opportunity exists in broadening AI/ML methods for early detection of a broad range of accelerator component or subsystem failures.

This book was released on 2000-10-09 with total page 521 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Third International Conference on Isotopes focused on the theme of “Isotope Production and Applications in the 21st Century” and included presentations by several eminent experts in this field. The three central subjects — Isotopes in Medicine, Industry and the Environment — were supplemented by presentations on the latest developments in isotope production and synthesis, research into radiopharmaceuticals, applications in agriculture, analytical applications, radiocarbon dating, AMS and PET. Various views on the future directions for producers and users of isotopes were considered at this multi-disciplinary meeting.
Book Synopsis Large Facilities In Physic - Proceedings Of The 5th Eps International Conference On Large Facilities by : Herwig Schopper
Download or read book Large Facilities In Physic - Proceedings Of The 5th Eps International Conference On Large Facilities written by Herwig Schopper and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995-05-04 with total page 482 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Physics research relies increasingly on the use of large facilities. The construction and operation of these facilities represent an increasing fraction of the funding for research. The most often calls for international collaborations. Since large facilities are now of great importance in all domains of physics, it is instructive to consider them in parallel. This is what is done in this book which puts emphasis on large physics facilities in Europe whilst taking a worldwide perspective.
Book Synopsis Critical Infrastructure Protection XII by : Jason Staggs
Download or read book Critical Infrastructure Protection XII written by Jason Staggs and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-17 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The information infrastructure – comprising computers, embedded devices, networks and software systems – is vital to operations in every sector: chemicals, commercial facilities, communications, critical manufacturing, dams, defense industrial base, emergency services, energy, financial services, food and agriculture, government facilities, healthcare and public health, information technology, nuclear reactors, materials and waste, transportation systems, and water and wastewater systems. Global business and industry, governments, indeed society itself, cannot function if major components of the critical information infrastructure are degraded, disabled or destroyed. Critical Infrastructure Protection XII describes original research results and innovative applications in the interdisciplinary field of critical infrastructure protection. Also, it highlights the importance of weaving science, technology and policy in crafting sophisticated, yet practical, solutions that will help secure information, computer and network assets in the various critical infrastructure sectors. Areas of coverage include: Themes and Issues; Infrastructure Protection; Infrastructure Modeling and Simulation; Industrial Control Systems Security. This book is the twelfth volume in the annual series produced by the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) Working Group 11.10 on Critical Infrastructure Protection, an international community of scientists, engineers, practitioners and policy makers dedicated to advancing research, development and implementation efforts focused on infrastructure protection. The book contains a selection of fifteen edited papers from the Twelfth Annual IFIP WG 11.10 International Conference on Critical Infrastructure Protection, held at SRI International, Arlington, Virginia, USA in the spring of 2018. Critical Infrastructure Protection XII is an important resource for researchers, faculty members and graduate students, as well as for policy makers, practitioners and other individuals with interests in homeland security.
