Book Synopsis Computational Intelligence In Software Engineering, Advances In Fuzzy Systems: Applications And Theory by : James F Peters
Download or read book Computational Intelligence In Software Engineering, Advances In Fuzzy Systems: Applications And Theory written by James F Peters and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1998-12-24 with total page 500 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This unique volume is the first publication on software engineering and computational intelligence (CI) viewed as a synergistic interplay of neurocomputing, granular computation (including fuzzy sets and rough sets), and evolutionary methods. It presents a unified view of CI in the context of software engineering. The book addresses a number of crucial issues: what is CI, what role does it play in software development, how are CI elements built into successive phases of the software life cycle, and what is the role played by CI in quantifying fundamental features of software artifacts? With contributions from leading researchers and practitioners, the book provides the reader with a wealth of new concepts and approaches, complete algorithms, in-depth case studies, and thought-provoking exercises. The topics coverage include neurocomputing, granular as well as evolutionary computing, object-oriented analysis and design in software engineering. There is also an extensive bibliography.

Book Synopsis Innovative Teaching and Learning by : Professor Lakhmi C. Jain
Download or read book Innovative Teaching and Learning written by Professor Lakhmi C. Jain and published by Physica. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presented are innovative teaching and learning techniques for the teaching of knowledge-based paradigms. The main knowledge-based intelligent paradigms are expert systems, artificial neural networks, fuzzy systems and evolutionary computing. Expert systems are designed to mimic the performance of biological systems. Artificial neural networks can mimic the biological information processing mechanism in a very limited sense. Evolutionary computing algorithms are used for optimization applications, and fuzzy logic provides a basis for representing uncertain and imprecise knowledge.

Book Synopsis Back Analysis in Rock Engineering by : Shunsuke Sakurai
Download or read book Back Analysis in Rock Engineering written by Shunsuke Sakurai and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-09-01 with total page 354 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides practicing engineers working in the field of design, construction and monitoring of rock structures such as tunnels and slopes with technical information on how to design, how to excavate and how to monitor the structures during their construction. Based on the long-term engineering experiences of the author, field measurements together with back analyses are presented as the most powerful tools in rock engineering practice. One of the purposes of field measurements is to assess the stability of the rock structures during their construction. However, field measurement results are only numbers unless they are quantitatively interpreted, a process in which back analyses play an important role. The author has developed both the concepts of “critical strain” and of the “anisotropic parameter” of rocks, which can make it possible not only to assess the stability of the structures during their construction, but also to verify the validity of design parameters by the back analysis of field measurement results during the constructions. Based on the back analysis results, the design parameters used at a design stage could be modified if necessary. This procedure is called an “Observational method”, a concept that is entirely different from that of other structures such as bridges and buildings. It is noted that in general, technical books written for practicing engineers mainly focus on empirical approaches which are based on engineers’ experiences. In this book, however, no empirical approaches will be described, instead, all the approaches are based on simple rock mechanics theory. This book is the first to describe an observational method in rock engineering practice, which implies that the potential readers of this book must be practicing engineers working on rock engineering projects.
