Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer. This book was released on 1988-10-31 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thougtit that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 31 (thesis year 1986) a total of 11 ,480 theses titles trom 24 Canadian and 182 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base tor these titles reported will greatly enhance the value ot this important annual reterence work. While Volume 31 reports theses submitted in 1986, on occasion, certain univer sities do re port theses submitted in previousyears but not reported at the time.

Book Synopsis Unsteady Transonic Flow by : Mårten T. Landahl
Download or read book Unsteady Transonic Flow written by Mårten T. Landahl and published by Courier Dover Publications. This book was released on 2019-04-17 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic monograph on unsteady transonic flow — the flow of air encountered at speeds at or near the speed of sound — is of continuing interest to students and professionals in aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, and other areas of applied mathematics. After a brief Introduction, Swedish physicist Mårten T. Landahl presents a chapter in which the two-dimensional solution is derived, succeeded by a discussion of its relation to the subsonic and supersonic solutions. Three chapters on low aspect ratio configurations follow, covering triangular wings and similar planforms with curved leading edges, rectangular wings, and cropped delta wings, and low aspect ratio wing-body combinations. The treatment concludes with a consideration of the experimental determination of air forces on oscillating wings at transonic speeds.

Book Synopsis Population Distribution and the Management of Urban Growth in Six Selected Urban Regions in Canada by : C. R. Bryant
Download or read book Population Distribution and the Management of Urban Growth in Six Selected Urban Regions in Canada written by C. R. Bryant and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The general objectives of this study were: to develop a quantitative picture of the changing population distribution in six selected urban regions (Halifax, Montreal, Toronto, Winnipeg, Calgary, and Vancouver); to identify the principal infrastructure and land use planning issues associated with the changing population patterns in those regions, based on the perceptions and experiences of senior planning professionals; and to identify the policies and strategies developed by regional and municipal governments, and to ascertain perceptions of their success. The report first describes overall patterns of urban growth and interprets the patterns based on a conceptual model of the evolution of an urban-centred region. It then turns attention to the six urban regions, discussing governmental structure, patterns of change, perceptions of issues, and strategies, with discussion centred around a core (usually urban core and suburbs combined) and rural-urban fringe differentiation. Issues and strategies are then synthesized and conclusions are presented concerning critical components for tackling the management of municipalities in the context of changing urban regions.
Book Synopsis Farming in a Changing Climate by : Ellen Wall
Download or read book Farming in a Changing Climate written by Ellen Wall and published by UBC Press. This book was released on 2011-11-01 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In farming systems across Canada, effective risk management is necessary to deal with drought, flooding, and extreme weather, and to adapt to altered climate and weather conditions. Unfortunately, climate change risks and opportunities are not always well understood among researchers and policy makers in the Canadian agri-food sector. This book addresses that gap by providing a wide-ranging synopsis of what climate change means for Canadian agriculture, exploring different approaches to the topic, and presenting examples of current research. It covers all agricultural regions and a wide variety of commodity production and farming systems. This comprehensive survey synthesizes twenty years of research on climate change and Canadian agriculture.
