Book Synopsis District Heating and Cooling Networks by : Antonio Colmenar Santos
Download or read book District Heating and Cooling Networks written by Antonio Colmenar Santos and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-05-12 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Conventional thermal power generating plants reject a large amount of energy every year. If this rejected heat were to be used through district heating networks, given prior energy valorisation, there would be a noticeable decrease in the amount of fossil fuels imported for heating. As a consequence, benefits would be experienced in the form of an increase in energy efficiency, an improvement in energy security, and a minimisation of emitted greenhouse gases. Given that heat demand is not expected to decrease significantly in the medium term, district heating networks show the greatest potential for the development of cogeneration. Due to their cost competitiveness, flexibility in terms of the ability to use renewable energy resources (such as geothermal or solar thermal) and fossil fuels (more specifically the residual heat from combustion), and the fact that, in some cases, losses to a country/region’s energy balance can be easily integrated into district heating networks (which would not be the case in a “fully electric” future), district heating (and cooling) networks and cogeneration could become a key element for a future with greater energy security, while being more sustainable, if appropriate measures were implemented. This book therefore seeks to propose an energy strategy for a number of cities/regions/countries by proposing appropriate measures supported by detailed case studies.
Book Synopsis Handbook of Research on Industrial Advancement in Scientific Knowledge by : Diaz, Vicente González-Prida
Download or read book Handbook of Research on Industrial Advancement in Scientific Knowledge written by Diaz, Vicente González-Prida and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2019-01-18 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a society that praises and promotes technological advancement, it becomes increasingly essential to review the effects of such rapid technological growth. New high-tech advances need to be examined to determine what they mean to science, society, and industry along with the benefits and challenges they present. The Handbook of Research on Industrial Advancement in Scientific Knowledge addresses the intersection of technology and science where engineering considerations, mathematical approaches, and management tools provide a better understanding and awareness of Industry 4.0, while also taking into account the impact on current society. This publication identifies methodologies and applications related to decision making, risk and uncertainty, and design and development not only on scientific and industrial topics but also on social and ethical matters. It is designed for engineers, entrepreneurs, academicians, researchers, managers, and students.
Book Synopsis Annual Review of Cybertherapy and Telemedicine 2015 by : B.K. Wiederhold
Download or read book Annual Review of Cybertherapy and Telemedicine 2015 written by B.K. Wiederhold and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2016-01-28 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Healthcare delivery systems have evolved to rely more heavily on technology in recent years. There has been a shift in care, diagnosis and treatment which has decreased the importance of traditional methods of care delivery. Technology has not only helped to extend our lifespan, but it has improved the quality of life for all citizens. This book presents the proceedings of the 20th Annual CyberPsychology, CyberTherapy & Social Networking Conference (CYPSY20), held in San Diego, California, in June/July 2015. The conference is an international networking and sharing platform for researchers, clinicians, policymakers and funding agents to share and discuss advancements in the growing disciplines of CyberTherapy & CyberPsychology. The papers included here have been divided into six main sections: editorial; critical reviews; evaluation studies; original research; clinical observations and work in progress. The book underlines how cybertherapy has started to make progress in treating a variety of disorders, and provides an overview of the necessary skills and tools available, as well as illuminating the context of interaction in which they operate.
Book Synopsis Sustainable Directions in Tourism by : Tomás F. Espino-Rodríguez
Download or read book Sustainable Directions in Tourism written by Tomás F. Espino-Rodríguez and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-11-21 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within the framework of tourism companies and tourist destinations, the question of sustainability is gaining importance. Tourists are increasingly aware of the importance of sustainability criteria, awarding greater value to sustainable destinations. Sustainability refers to a wide range of aspects related to climate change, the economic organization of tourism, social values or questions, job creation, and the necessary protection of the culture of destinations and the environment. Therefore, there is a need for studies that consider these aspects in order to achieve the sustainable development of tourist destinations. Fundamental to this is discovering to what degree tourism companies and destinations approach these questions in the strategies they use to deal with problems stemming from their attempts to be more sustainable. Conceptual papers and empirical research on the economic, social, cultural, and environmental aspects related to tourism companies and destinations are welcome. Studies that analyze how these questions and the concept of sustainability are included in tourism companies and destinations are necessary in these modern times. This book was established for these reasons, dedicated to examining sustainability in tourism. The papers included in this Special Issue can help us to determine the new directions being addressed in the research on sustainability tourism.

Download or read book Probabilidad y estadística para ingeniería y ciencias written by Ronald E. Walpole and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 816 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
