Book Synopsis Prise en charge thérapeutique des lésions musculaires aigües intrinsèques by : Saïd El Bakali
Download or read book Prise en charge thérapeutique des lésions musculaires aigües intrinsèques written by Saïd El Bakali and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Imaging in Sports-Specific Musculoskeletal Injuries by : Ali Guermazi
Download or read book Imaging in Sports-Specific Musculoskeletal Injuries written by Ali Guermazi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-11 with total page 819 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most books on imaging in sports medicine are concerned with the particular joints or anatomy involved in sports-related injuries. This book, however, takes a different perspective by looking at injuries that are associated with specific sports. All of the well-known major sports, such as football, tennis, and basketball, are included, as are many less common but still very popular sports, such as baseball, American football, and rugby. The chapters on sports-specific injuries are preceded by two chapters on the perspective of clinicians and another two chapters on the general use of MR imaging and ultrasound in sports medicine. The authors of the book are world-renowned experts from five continents. Imaging in Sports-Specific Musculoskeletal Injuries should be of great interest to radiologists, sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, and rehabilitation physicians, and to anyone interested in the treatment of sports-related injuries.

Download or read book Simplexity written by Alain Berthoz and published by Odile Jacob. This book was released on 2018-12-20 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Simplexity, as I understand it, is the range of solutions living organisms have found, despite the complexity of natural processes, to enable the brain to prepare an action and plan for the consequences of it. These solutions are simplifying principles that enable the processing of information or situations, by taking into account past experience and anticipating the future. They are neither caricatures, shortcuts, or summaries. They are new ways of asking questions, sometimes at the cost of occasional detours, in order to achieve faster, more elegant, more effective actions.” A. B. As Alain Berthoz demonstrates in this profoundly original book, simplicity is never easy; it requires suppressing, selecting, connecting, thinking, in order to then act in the best way possible. And what if we, in turn, are inspired by the living world to process the complexity that surrounds us? Alain Berthoz is professor at the Collège de France where he is co-director of the Laboratoire de physiologie de la perception et de l’action. [Laboratory for the physiology of perception and action]. He is a member of the French Academy of Sciences, and is the author of Le Sens du mouvement [The Brain's Sense of Movement] and La Décision [Emotion and Reason].
Book Synopsis The Phonetic Description of Voice Quality by : John Laver
Download or read book The Phonetic Description of Voice Quality written by John Laver and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2009-02-12 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The importance of an individual's voice in everyday social interaction can scarcely be overestimated. It is an essential element in the listener's analysis of the speaker's physical, psychological and social characteristics. Differences in voice quality reflect different habitual adjustments, or settings, of the vocal apparatus. Individual consonant and vowel segments can be thought of as momentary actions superimposed on these settings and voice quality, as the characteristic sound of a speaker's voice, thus pervades and to a certain extent determines the phonetic character of these linguistic segments. This volume sets out a phonetic description of voice quality, which has largely been neglected in other studies. Dr Laver's integrative approach is a major advance in general phonetic theory and his standardisation of descriptive terminology for the voice will be welcomed by those working in the fields of speech therapy, speech pathology, social psychology and communications engineering, as well as by students and specialists in speech science, phonetics and phonology.
