It involves rethinking the way your business is managed, both internally and externally, and the ways in which employees and partners relate to each other. Stuart Emmett and Barry Crocker's book explains how a relationship-based approach to supply chain management can transform business; how to organise your business internally for effective supply chain relationships and how to transform your external supply chain using relationship marketing, customer relationship management and supply chain partnerships. One of the key distinguishing characteristics of a high performing supply chain is the presence of strategic trust. With strategic trust, the parties have access to each other's strategic plans; relevant cost information and forecasts are shared; risks and rewards are addressed openly. This book explains how to embed a culture of inter-company trust and to realise the benefits of improved supply chain relationships.

Book Synopsis Value-Based Management of Supplier by : Zhanping Cheng
Download or read book Value-Based Management of Supplier written by Zhanping Cheng and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2009 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Supplier relationship managers often find it difficult to evaluate and optimize supplier relationships, which are crucial to the success of their business yet complex and multifaceted, characterized by long-term orientation, uncertainty, temporal evolution, idiosyncratic investment, improvement potential, and adaptation flexibility. How to design optimal supply contracts to govern supplier relationships has been a common problem in business practice for many years. This book draws on the modern theories of investment under uncertainty in the finance literature and proposes a hierarchical, dynamic and value-based solution for supplier relationship and supply contract management. At the strategic level, the author addresses supplier relationship management by putting forward a three-layer relationship valuation procedure and a fuzzy-stochastic relationship valuation model. In addition, decision models for managing a supplier relationship life cycle as well as configuring and planning supplier relationship portfolios are presented. At the tactical level, the author deals with supply contract management. A general, compound supply contract model is proposed and how to design optimal supply contracts under demand risk and price risk is explored. Furthermore, the contract portfolio configuration problem is discussed.

Download or read book Dutch Deltas written by Werner Scheltjens and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In Dutch Deltas, Werner Scheltjens examines the emergence, functions and structure of the Low Countries’ maritime transport system between ca. 1300 and 1850. Scheltjens introduces the delta as a suitable geographical unit of analysis for understanding the regional economic origins of communities of maritime transporters. The author proves that changes in maritime trade networks and in the structure of regional economies entailed a process of specialisation, which led to the emergence of ‘professional’ maritime transport communities and the development of an integrated maritime transport market with Amsterdam and Rotterdam as its main centres. Dutch Deltas offers the first comprehensive study of the economic geography of the Low Countries’ maritime transport sector and its long-term development between 1300 and 1850.
